Vitality confirm shox transfer

Vitality have announced that they have completed the signing of a two-year contract with Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon, who has been transferred from G2 in what the organization described as the "most expensive transfer in Vitality's history."

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Vitality since the conclusion of the StarLadder Major, which saw Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt depart the roster while G2 also looked to undergo changes with aims of adding CR4ZY duo Nemanja "⁠huNter-⁠" Kovač and Nemanja "⁠nexa⁠" Isaković.

The rumors were further fueled by G2's temporary addition of Fabien "⁠kioShiMa⁠" Fiey — a player Vitality also reportedly considered —, followed by shox's official departure from the Spanish organization, which he had represented for over three-and-a-half years.

Vitality complete the anticipated transfer of shox

In Vitality, the Frenchman joins two of his former teammates from various rosters of Titan and G2, Cédric "⁠RpK⁠" Guipouy and Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire, with whom he won several international titles under the latter banner in 2016 to 2017.

Alex "⁠ALEX⁠" McMeekin will remain the sole in-game leader of the team, the organization has stressed, adding that shox is replacing NBK- on a "positional, like-for-like basis", and that the decision was made by the team's coach, Rémy "⁠XTQZZZ⁠" Quoniam.

The announcement comes just three days before the French side's participation at DreamHack Masters Malmö, taking place on October 1-6, where Vitality are set to meet TYLOO in the opening round of Group A. They are also set to play in their first season of ESL Pro League, whose 10th season will be played in October-November, and are confirmed to play at IEM Beijing (November 7-10).

Shox definitely has potential to have more fraghing and clutch impact than NBK if he can get his best form back. NBK is actually quite consistent though and is definitely as experienced and as smart in-game as shox. It'll be interesting. If shox is willing to take a back-seat and listen to ALEX and focus on just fragging it could work. NBK can be a whiney dick I think, never seems the easiest guy to work with.
