Liquid to ESL Pro League Finals over Renegades; ATK send Singularity to Relegation

Liquid have earned themselves a spot at the ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals following a two-map series win over Renegades, while ATK secured themselves a spot in the second group stage with a 2-1 victory over Singularity.

A USP-S quad kill from Jake "Stewie2K" Yip saw Liquid open things up on Renegades' pick of Mirage, but a response from Aaron "AZR" Ward and company allowed Renegades to fight back for four of their own to pull ahead. Control of the game quickly swapped hands once Liquid were on rifles however, with Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken and Nick "nitr0" Cannella helping their side dominate Renegades to only concede three rounds on the road to a 16-7 win.

Liquid are headed to Odense

A strong performance from Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski had Liquid continue their form from Mirage to take an early 6-0 lead on Inferno, but a fight back from the Australian side kept the two teams within one round of each other at halftime. Another pistol win following the side swap saw Liquid swiftly move up to a 13-7 scoreline before Renegades were able to reply, with the Australian squad winning five of the ensuing six rounds to reduce the deficit to 14-12. Back-to-back quad kills from EliGE was what shut down any final hopes of a comeback for the Australian side, with the 22-year-old ending the map with 32 frags to his name to help earn a 16-12 victory for his team.

Three kills from Sebastian "seb" Bucki aided Singularity to a 3-0 start on their own pick of Train, but heavy losses against the pistols of ATK left the economy of Skyler "Relyks" Weaver and company in shambles once ATK notched their first round. With control of the money and the momentum of the match in their hands, ATK fought back, pulling ahead 10-5 at the half thanks to multi-frag rounds from Aran "Sonic" Groesbeek and Ricky "floppy" Kemery. Singularity were able to tie things up with a five round spree to kick off the second half, but the AWP of Josh "oSee" Ohm combined with fragging from Sonic and floppy allowed ATK to take six rounds in a row and close out the map 16-10.

Sonic helped ATK take the series over the line

A pistol win for ATK to kick off Dust2 was immediately responded to with a force-buy from Singularity, who looked to get even after conceding their own map pick by taking nine of the next ten rounds. ATK were able to add a trio to their tally as the half drew to a close, keeping themselves competitive as this time it was Singularity who held a 10-5 lead at the half. Another six-round spree from ATK briefly gave Johnny "JT" Theodosiou and company the lead, but they were unable to hold on to it for long as Singularity responded in kind to swiftly push the series to a third map with a 16-11 win.

A 3-0 start for Singularity on the deciding map of Inferno was responded to by ATK, who were able to steal away the lead by fighting back for a 5-4 scoreline on the defense. Singularity found the key to their offense as they half neared its end, assuming a 9-6 lead as they swapped sides. A pistol victory gave ATK the momentum they needed to equalizing the score, taking seven straight rounds to surpass Singularity at 13-9. Multi-kill rounds from Relyks helped to keep his team in the running as they began clawing back, but a triple kill round from Ian "motm" Hardy with a MAC-10 saw ATK narrowly snatch away the win 16-14 to close out the series.

Renegades have work to do, some very soft CT on Mirage, Liquid pug styling with ease. Grat has a habit of repeeking and getting his head ripped off for it. Good effort by the Aussie lads though, Liquid is a great team

Rough map for him.. lol Anyone that has ever played league matches at any level has had one or more of these games happen to them. Its where youre so unconfident that you stop using normal guns (motm just bougjt mp9s and dropped his teammate the rifles) and you just keep getting timinged or every play you try to make fails and you feel like a useless bot.

'Anyone that has ever played league matches at any level has had one or more of these games happen to them." It´s not an excuse in this match mafriend. The match was against fckn Singularity. motm is used to play against these SNG players.

But it happens to even the best players in the world. EliGE can underperform, device can underperform, s1mple can underperform and Zywoo can underperform. They're not robots, they're humans, it's impossible to be perfect. Sometimes it just feels like everything goes wrong in a game.

They obviously could underperform, but not because felt the presure against players you already played a lot (motm´s case). He was bad, but it makes no sense it was because it was a tournament that he never participated.

Honestly, Skyler (Relyks) has sorta been carrying most of the team on his momentum, with seb having some surprisingly exceptional performances as well, and wrath being very hit-or-miss, and that mixed in with everyone else's lackluster efforts is not enough. They only got so far with Liquid because Liquid wasn't quite feeling it and their focus was more on Renegades (who they went 2-0 against which just further goes to prove my point)
