100 Thieves pull out of DreamHack Open Winter

The highest-ranked team announced for DreamHack Open Winter 2019, 100 Thieves, pulled out of the tournament, with a replacement yet to be announced.

DreamHack Open Winter 2019 will take place on November 29 - December 1 in the famed Elmia Convention center in Jönköping, Sweden, with eight teams competing in the standard DreamHack format for a $100,000 prize pool. The team list was set, with 100 Thieves headlining it as the fifth-best team in the world, but it has now been announced that they will not be able to attend the event.

The Australian squad forfeited their spot at the $100,000 event

DreamHack Open Winter overlaps with the finals of ECS Season 8, a league 100 Thieves did not participate in this season, and ends shortly before the ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals in Odense, which is a 5-hour drive from Jönköping. 100 Thieves have not revealed why they decided to skip the event, nor have DreamHack yet revealed the replacement for the Australian team.

exactly, the gun is still OP, it's just a smoke more expensive. of course, some teams won't sacrifice a smoke / he just to play with the SG, but if the T side has a good economy, I can still see 1AWP and 4SG

Cause the same was true for the AUG. The $200 increase of the AUG didn't affect people buying kt because it was still too good of a gun to not cough up more for. The SG is still less than the M4 on CT side and with how T-sided the economy is in this game, the SG will still definitely be bought. This is probably an unpopular opinion but I think one of the fixes to the economy would be that CTs should get $800 as well if they defuse a planted bomb, just like how T's get $800 for planting the bomb. Because of how hard it is to hold a rush to plant the bomb w/out utility, T's can easily get a free $800 and with how cheap the weapons are that are needed to do it (a Pistol a mac 10 a couple flashes and now even a galil), it makes it hard for CTs. This eould also encourage more CTs to actually invest into retaking a site since they gain an additional $800 for defusing the bomb

Thats just a complicated solution to a simple problem. All thats needed is the SG needs to have small debuffs and be $3400. It will then become an argument between utility and AK or SG and none. Pro teams will undoubtedly go for an AK with utility unless they have a strong economy which is basically the CT's fault anyway

At no point would it be worth retaking a site in an unfavourable situation just for $800 when your saved equipment is worth $4000+... This would also kill second round for Ts, allow CTs to have 5 m4s after a first round defuse, build a good economy going into the first T buy round allowing a second full buy, etc. in a game that’s already CT sided... It would also defeat the purpose of T half buys with the goal of getting bomb down... The meta would *completely* change.

"In a game thats already CT sided" LOOOOOOL Have you even watched.. not played.. but WATCHED any CS in the last couple months?? It's T-sided as shit. You can literally force with good weaponry every round, and every gun the CT's lose really screws them once they lose a round. On T-side, a bomb plant literally gives them 1/5 of the money they need for a strong buy, but a CT team can't have a good economy unless they don't lose guns for many rounds. Even then, all it takes is one good play vs CT's that are playing retake to come back from a situation where the CT side is dominating.. Now if you've actually played any CS recently, you actually feel how tilting it is to lose a teammate randomly pushing vs a forcebuy as a CT and having no money once we lose one round.

Don't talk about "watching" CS and what pro's are doing, that is not relevant to the entire CS community. Maybe you are faceit level 10 and have 10k hours, but in my elo (LE-SMFC), ct rounds are way easier than T rounds. Simply because the utility usage it's not exceptional (grenades are being used properly most of the time, but no pro level) and it's easier to hold an angle than to take an angle.

So do T's never use flashes in your games? They never change the way they peek? (Straight up wide-peek, wide crouch peek, jiggle peek, slow peek). You can't simply hold an angle in CS, especially online.

no its just to dense of a schedule. players need rest before the season 10 finals. i wouldnt play it either with no rest inbetween. i think they would of had 1 or maybe 2 days of rest between dreamhack and season 10 finals. sure its only a 5 hour drive but everyone needs a break exp when the finals are worth so much more.
