Natus Vincere defeat Liquid 2-0; advance to IEM Katowice semi-final

With a 2-0 victory over Liquid at IEM Katowice, Natus Vincere have put an end to a losing streak to the North American team and advanced to the semi-finals, where they will take on Astralis.

Going into the quarter-final series at IEM Katowice, Liquid had a six-series winning streak over Natus Vincere, only losing a couple of BO1s to the CIS team, including the last meeting between the two at BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen 2019. In the game in Poland, Natus Vincere were ahead throughout the series, and eventually closed it out after two maps.

Natus Vincere started their map pick, Dust2, by securing the T-side pistol round, but Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski's quad kill in the following force put a stop to any momentum building. Liquid went up 4-2 before Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev's 1v4 clutch on the A site inspired Natus Vincere, seeing them go on a streak of rounds won. Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov's triple kill in round 11 was another key round for the CIS side, seeing them finish the half 10-5 after winning eight out of nine rounds in the final stretch.

Nick "nitr0" Cannella and co. opted for a B site execute on the pistol, which worked out and gave them a route back into the map. The scoreline was 10-9 before Natus Vincere woke up and went on another strong run. After reaching map point, 15-10, Liquid hit back with one, but s1mple finished off Dust2 with a triple AWP kill, 16-11.

s1mple's clutches powered Natus Vincere to the win

Just like on Dust2, Natus Vincere won the initial pistol but lost to the force buy, seeing Liquid take a 3-1 lead on the T-side. Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy and Egor "flamie" Vasilyev secured the 2v2 retake in round 5 which got their team back on track, with Denis "electroNic" Sharipov's multikills proving pivotal to Natus Vincere winning seven out of eight rounds. EliGE put a stop to that with a triple entry kill, resulting in Liquid reaching six rounds, but they were stopped there due to clutches by electroNic and s1mple.

Another pistol round went Liquid's way to start the second half of Mirage, but Natus Vincere were shortly back to winning ways, with another 1v2 from s1mple pushing them to significant lead, 12-8. A double AWP setup netted Liquid a round, but they were unable to build upon that and Natus Vincere shortly reached match point. Keith "NAF" Markovic and EliGE kept the North American side afloat, but just as they were closing in on overtime, s1mple showed up with three kills and flamie clutched out the 1v2 to secure a 16-13 victory on Mirage and advance to the semi-final.

Elige played great. But frankly, a lot of save exit kills, and the fact his teammates weren't pulling weight in a close game left him for more frags. Also heavy saves denied Na'Vi frags in won rounds, which explains lower adr. 1. S1mple 2. Electronic 3. Elige

That's bullshit, they're consistently flashing for each other; boomich makes timely peaks/pushes for info; Perfecto steps up during key rounds and has high IQ plays(his game reminds me of xyp), and s1mple and electronic are the best player and the best rifler in the game. So no shit they are going to shine. They would be top 2 on literally any other team in the world stat wise. Strawman arguments m8s

Honestly this T side bullshit is so overstated. They lost all pistol rounds or to second round buys which were converted by BOTH fnatic and Liquid in 5 maps. Yet the scorelines are extremely close, which means they won a lot more gun rounds. Henry is just talking out of his ass sometimes. Na'Vi aren't juggernauts on T side, but they are well above average. Electronic with krieg every gun round is a terror in and of itself.

its gonna be tough but i feel its the right test at this point to see how NaVi does with their overall development, it should point them to how much priority they should put on either sides development and also relatively how much to put on MAP POOL.. no doubt the boss man already has so much mapped out he is carrying out a long process that is well tested and understood, but facing a team with such depth gives top quality feedback of the process as a whole, Astralis are just going to help them grow and that is best case; IF Astralis win.. if not then next time they match up Astralis has to bring their solutions which would even be better for NaVi from this perspective ;) Finally a team that can push Astralis even higher than they got last time ? holyshit this year is going to be something eh

Definitely not rank S cancer holding potential back, worst comms people say things 5 times and take too many words to say what they mean. And then what they mean isn't even optimal its just what info those people are used to sharing, most of it is interpreted and used quick enough and it seems fine. A lot of the problem is the human problem, look how much momentum matters to them ? noone seems to care to try and root this issue out of NA. Even EG has it festering underneath good logical structure and protocols/processes that bring good results. But they can collapse just the same way.. they seemed hard to predict before but hmm.. interesting thought

Liquid has won in the past thanks to the raw aim power of their players. It looks like other teams have taken notice and upped their rosters: Navi (-Zeus, Edward) G2 (-don't remember who) FaZe (-Guardian) Mouz (-suNny, - STYKO, -oskar) Evil Geniuses (-daps) etc. etc. etc. all these teams have made changes to increase their raw aim power. CSGO in 2020 has become insanely competitive - simply outaiming and outdueling is no longer enough.

SG doesn't need to be nerfed. Some players don't even choose to use it normally, like Rain. Also, when money is tight, players prefer the AK.

ez for astralis,Navi sweats every game and wins 2: 1, and Astralis generally easily closes 2: 0 relaxing after a big score, 0: 8 (fnatic) with vitality 0:4.easy for Astralis.I believe in my guys, you can beat toxic Simple and his stupid team.

With Stewie on the roster, Liquid won't achieve anything. He has eventual good moments, but, overall, he is dragging them down. Feels bad for the rest of the team

They wouldn't have made this far having a bad IGL. Okay, they haven't won something in a while and have been losing form, but still are a solid tier 1 team

I am new to cs esports but wasn't that the time when Navi won 4 major in a row with Zeus, Edward, markeloff, starix and ceh9. Probably the most achieved line up of 1.6 , like only team to ever win 4 majors was astralis core but from a longer duration, Navi in 1.6 won 4 majors in a period less than 3 years.
