Heretics part ways with jeyN

Jérémy "⁠jeyN⁠" Nguyen's contract has been terminated with immediate effect, Heretics have announced.

In a Twitter post, Heretics surprisingly justified the decision with the need to "preserve the future of our CS:GO team". According to the Spanish organisation, jeyN hindered the progression of the squad and showed a character that is "completely opposite to the harmony of the rest of his teammates."

The 22-year-old Frenchman joined Heretics as part of the former FrenchFrogs roster signing in July 2019. In November, the player was benched as part of a roster revamp, later returning to the active lineup in January 2020, when Alexandre "⁠xms⁠" Forté was also recruited.

The announcement comes just days after Heretics managed to qualify for the Europe Minor leading to the ESL One Rio Major after beating OG and HEROIC (now playing as FunPlus Phoenix) in the closed qualifier. On Twitter, Heretics founder and CEO Arnau Vidal stressed that the decision was made prior to the tournament.

You can't tell from the highlights, but if you watch the whole game, something just seems off about how he plays. Yes, I know I'm a NiP fanboy reppin the DiG flair, but I'm not delusional. It's the third. No org cuts ties with a player like that if they're legit. This guy's been cheating his tits off pretty much since he joined. If he was legit, he'd be sitting on the bench with a buyout. The org can't just come out and say "the guy who carries us when he feels like it was cheating so we're dropping him", to they immediately terminate his contract and make him a free agent. scummy from the org and player.

This explanation seems fair enough, Ive watched him play with some streamers a couple times and he had a really unpleasant cocky personality. He was already on the bench for a while so maybe they just didn't renew his contract, or they thought there is no point paying him a salary hoping for a buyout when there is currently no demand and he will probably focus on his studies as a result of being put aside.
