Devilwalk: "One of our biggest strengths is objectively looking at things; after we lost to Complexity we had a four-hour talk"

In an interview conducted by James "⁠BanKs⁠" Banks, Jonatan "⁠Devilwalk⁠" Lundberg spoke about GODSENT's ESL Pro League Season 11 group, the team's strengths, and his personal development as a coach.

GODSENT find themselves in a promising position in Group A of ESL Pro League Season 11 Europe, in which the race for one of the top three spots seems to be wide open. The former SMASH team will open their campaign against Vitality, who are still adjusting to life after Alex "⁠ALEX⁠" McMeekin and will play their first match with Kévin "⁠misutaaa⁠" Rabier.

The European squad had its fair share of issues going into Pro League, with a scheduled bootcamp being canceled amid the growing precaution surrounding the coronavirus, forcing the team to change their plans and practice online. With the team having played just three matches in the past month, Devilwalk feels that the players are currently feeling "slow on adaptations" inside the server.

Despite the lack of action, GODSENT have peaked at No.17 in the rankings, with the key focal point to the squad's constant rise in the last six months being put down to communication by Devilwalk. "We usually get a lot out of discussions, it’s where we develop as a team when we collectively talk as a group. I think one of our biggest strengths is objectively looking at our matches afterward. For example, when we lost to Complexity in the Minor, we had a four-long conversation afterward. We were not mad or anything, it was just like, 'This and that went wrong. What can we change for tomorrow?'.

When asked by BanKs about what he would focus on from a personal standpoint, the Swedish coach explained: "The one thing I want to get better at this year is analysing more demos. I’m a very reactive coach in the game, I try to spot things and work on that, but for me, doing a bit more analytical work this year is what I’m aiming for."
