Swole Patrol down to two players; Zellsis leaves CS

Swole Patrol's future is currently up in the air after two more players decided to leave the team.

Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro announced in a Twitlonger post that he is moving to VALORANT after growing tired of playing without any support, admitting that "there aren't enough organisations for the lower levels of the scene" at the moment.

He becomes the second Swole Patrol player to switch to Riot Games' upcoming tactical shooter after Victor "food" Wong, who has been linked with a move to Braxton "swag" Pierce's T1.

Zellsis is moving to VALORANT

Zellsis is mostly known for his three-month trial for Cloud9, during which he attended the IEM Katowice 2019 Major. He went on to play for teams like Lazarus and Singularity before returning to Swole Patrol for a fourth stint.

Meanwhile, Austin "Cooper" Abadir revealed on Twitter that he is currently seeking a new challenge, stressing that he remains committed to furthering his Counter-Strike career. The 25-year-old, who is averaging a 1.15 rating this year, stressed that he still has room for improvement, saying: "I feel like I am only getting better".

These departures leave Swole Patrol with just two players, Ryan "freakazoid" Abadir and Edgar "MarKE" Maldonado, who have not yet announced their future plans. The North American team recently took part in ESL Pro League Season 11, in which they managed to pick up upset victories over Liquid and FURIA but ultimately finished the round-robin stage in last place in a three-way tie with MIBR and 100 Thieves.

Another player to leave for VALORANT. Pretty sure most of these players moving to VALORANT will still not be able to reach the top, there is a reason that they never reached the top in csgo...

That's why only shitters are leaving. They will be the best for a while and will be able to grab some ez cash. Later they will be trash like they are now in cs.

Its happend before , new game comes out still lots of bugs and different abilities are still way op. In order for actual prize money and competitions updates will have to be rolled out. Leveling the playing field and then the quick converters will need to learn the game and ultimately be outplayed by the youngsters. It's a quick money grab try and win a few events etc

Well, my thoughts are that the CSGO "pros" who never really made it anywhere in the game are switching over to Valorant because the skill ceiling is lower and they have a better chance at actually going pro in Valorant. I still think that CSGO is the FPS game with the highest skill ceiling to date besides CS 1.6, but I'm a little biased since I've played CS 1.6 for most of my life.

As expected, washed up and lower tier pros will move to valorant, cause there isn't that much money in low tier CS, but they're hoping to get paid just by switching early and becoming the best there. Give it a year or 2 and if they underperform, they'll be shitty pros in that game aswell and it'll be even worse than it's in CS.

There isn't any money in low tier CS. The orgs have finally wised up. They're not going to pay out $30-50k a month in team salary for players who don't win anything. Riot will probably have guaranteed minimum salary like it has in other games. These guys who are quitting are already 22-25 years old. If they don't get a salary soon, they'll have to go out and get a real job.

Getting a real job isn't in the cards of shitty pros because they have wasted their youth years achieving nothing in a game, completely ignoring studies, not to mention they consider regular jobs "boomer's stuff"

Valorant is the most watched game on Twitch for a month soon, most people have their keys already and all the 24/7 streams have been deleted so they are also not excuses anymore. It's also in closed beta, it's idiotic to declare a game dead when it's not even public for everyone yet.

its new and competing with cs, a game that has a big history, basically people hate change and most arent willing to give valorant a chance beyond a single match to shit on it later, since they cant stop the game from releasing or from being popular and having an off chance of possibly taking cs place they do the next best thing..... they hate on it, i think the game is good and its a breath of fresh air, will it take cs place? i wouldnt bet on it but it is a nice alternative for people that are bored of te same shit for the last 20 years or so

I know a guy who just moved to Valorant. He wasn't lazy. He put five years and 11k hours into CS. Great IGL. And he couldn't even get a tryout with a pro team, because he wasn't an ass kisser. A lot of CS is politics.

well, you dont need to be an ass kisser to get the chance. If you have what it takes you will get your chance eventually. But you need to show what you got in team and not only puggplay. I know several players starting to play in nonpro teams and grinding af. finally the chances came. I also know people with 8k + hours and good aimers, but 0 gamesence = not good. Then ofcourse there are many good players that doesnt get the chances, but can depend on timings aswell...

NA is supposedly desperate for good young IGLs, but that didn't help him at all. It's the flashy FPL pug stars who get the tryouts. That's what impresses the pros, if you shit on them in a pug match. He led his team to a first place finish in MDL, and all the fraggers quit for other offers.

so let me see, no supporting organisations in the lower tier of cs and go to valorant close beta? is any org paying players in valorant already before the game comes out? And what make theese players think that they will succeed in valorant? they think that is going to be hundreds of orgs waiting?

They think they can get a headstart on other players and secure at least some revenue before the game settles

yes, but when the game comes out they will be rekted by 12 yo kids and realize the misstake they´ve done...but it will be too late and no org in cs will take theese failures back

Of course, they calculated they would win more by pulling this stunt than to linger on cs limbo and slowly fade away without pay

What these players fail to see the is the influx of money from orgs etc after corona is over. Like why tf would you leave now. Just ride it out, 100% upturn soon.

'Tired of playing with no support' The guy played a major for one of the largest NA orgs, it's not their fault he's not good enough. Cya. I would've been surprised if Cooper left for another game at this stage, he's shown some serious talent recently.

He was without an org since august 2019, but yeah... thats all because of pandemic XDDD

Do these players really think they will suddenly make it in valorant? The competition will be even higher than it was in the NA cs scene.

That is good, all who leave for Valorant are freeing up room for others to prove themselves. There is going to be a wave of new talents, let's see how many break through in a couple years

its not the pandemics fault they didnt get signed....its because they are an average team at best(tier 3-4)and have proved it....

The fact is this. The majority of the csgo players cannot be a colzdera or a Niko or a S1mple. After that they make decisions like this One. Maybe their brain is focused only in money making, instead of groing up in game. Take a look for the american players who made transition to valorant. In the eu i dont see that.

ScreaM, mixwell, & mezii have been playing on Prodigy for Valorant...Think theyve done like 4 tournies. There's also a team called StartedFromCS w/ Ex6TenZ, Maniac, & xReal that's been in a bunch. Americans like to announce shit, and make a big spectacle about stuff... I notice most countries in EU just kind of go with the flow.

Another random more moving to a random chinese f2p game. They expect to compete in the "wolds" of valorant and probably fail like they all whole career of csgo.

I think it's so funny how triggered EU people get by Valorant. It's like you all realize on some level the CS scene would be dead without NA orgs and money and you know this somewhere deep inside and it scares the shit out of you. Be a proper human being wish him well and move on. He was never a great CS player but he was a hell of a lot better then anyone commenting on this so yeah. Live and let live.
