Cloud9, Chaos qualify for cs_summit 6 North America; Envy eliminated
Cloud9 and Chaos went undefeated through the upper bracket of the cs_summit 6 North America Regional Qualifier to advance to the main event.
The first day of the cs_summit 6 Regional Qualifier in North America saw to the elimination of two teams, New England Whalers and Envy, while Cloud9 and a Joshua "steel" Nissan-less Chaos booked tickets through to the main event with wins in the upper bracket.
Upsets unfolded early on as Chaos stunned MIBR in a 2-1 series, trading map wins on Overpass and Dust2 before edging out an Inferno decider 19-17. Meanwhile, TeamOne sent Envy to the lower bracket with a pair of one-sided victories on Overpass and Train, Yeah prevailed 2-1 over Triumph, and a stellar showing from Josh "oSee" Ohm helped Cloud9 come out the better side of a triple overtime on Train to beat New England Whalers 2-0.
Another lengthy overtime unfolded in Cloud9's ensuing match-up, with the team initially dealing with Yeah 16-11 on Inferno before being forced to battle through four overtimes in yet another Train game, narrowly prevailing 28-26 to advance to the main event.

Chaos took on their second Brazilian team of the day in the form of TeamOne, edging out a 16-14 win on Mirage before Pedro "Maluk3" Campos's side evened the series score with a 16-8 victory on Train. Despite starting the Overpass decider down 0-3, a streak of nine rounds in a row put Chaos in control of the series once again, with a pistol win in the second half helping the team eventually close out the map 16-12.
In the lower bracket, Triumph claimed a 22-18 win on Vertigo against New England Whalers before cruising through Nuke 16-7, sending Ben "ben1337" Smith's side packing from the tournament. Envy fared even worse in their lower bracket series, mustering only four rounds each on Dust2 and Mirage before they were eliminated at the hands of MIBR.
One more spot in the event will be awarded to the winner of the lower bracket, with the next round of play seeing Triumph take on TeamOne and MIBR up against Yeah at 21:00 on Tuesday. Notably, the latter match-up draws further attention to a conflict of interest that exists between the two Brazilian teams, with Epitacio "TACO" de Melo and MIBR team manager Ricardo "dead" Sinigaglia both being owners of the Yeah organization.
