Trusted mode goes live in latest CS:GO update

After initial testing in a beta branch, Valve have pushed Trusted mode out to the live version of the game.

Valve had first added a "Trusted Launch" option to the game menu at the end of June in their latest effort to combat cheating in CS:GO. The mode, when enabled, would restrict third-party applications and software from interacting with the CS:GO client unless the drivers had been digitally signed by an Authenticode signature.

Following a trial phase, Trusted Launch has now been rolled out to all players by default. Users that launch the game with incompatible files will be greeted with a warning indicating what file is causing issues.

For players who may experience problems with the latest update, Valve have temporarily created a backwards compatible branch of the game, while those who wish to allow third-party software that is not digitally signed to interact with their game still have the option to launch the game in -untrusted mode at the cost of a reduced trust score and an inability to join VAC-enabled servers.

– If you are a third party developer, all of your DLLs that interact with CS:GO must be digitally signed.
— If your customers would like to use third party software that is not digitally signed, they can start the game with the –insecure launch option. Note that they will not be able to join VAC servers with this option.

yep, me and my friend would top frag most of the time in global, we'd get reported constantly by salty kids and our trust factor plummeted on 2 different accounts up to the point where 4/10 people were blatantly cheating. valve's trust factor system is a fucking nightmare, once you go below average you're completely fucked and your game experience is ruined

Making cheating non-worthwhile is probably the best fix. The people who go through the effort of actually cheating will just drop down far enough into the trust factor that they'll eventually face other cheaters, with an increasing risk of being banned. Shouldn't we soon see the big wave of advanced cheating that everyone expected following the source code leak?

Sorry but i had few such games thru the years im playing. I remember once in mirage as T had 22 kills in half with 21 HS and i ended up with 33 kills and 30 hs in the end of match. Did i cheat ? No, i just had a great game with a bit of luck. Of course everyone thought i was a cheater, even i would think so if someone had those stats. So, you cant ban someone because of stats

Then we would have bans on people who weren't cheating. The goal of VAC isn't to ban as many people as possible, it's to make sure that everyone who does get banned actually was cheating. There's no way of getting VAC banned unless you were cheating. That's the goal of the system.

I watched bardolph's stream last night and he played against few cheaters that killed him almost from spawn to spawn :) and he asked them how did it get bypassed already and guy said we cheat cuz all others cheat and we dont care, he said he pays 20$ per month for cheats and that this trust mode or whatever got bypassed 1h after realease lol

A quick search on Github sadly seems to say it has been bypassed already, but it’s a small step in the right direction. Not sending the location of hidden enemies at all would also be great. Fingers crossed for more anticheat measures.

Frequent MM player here. SoloQ is abismal for me but with a 5-man it's thoroughly enjoyable. Then again we smash any opposition just through sheer teamwork being a 5-stack. I have a good trust factor, and I haven't faced any blatant cheaters in months, no spinbotters in literal years. The trust factor system worked as far as I've noticed. People who think MM is riddled with cheaters probably need to stop flaming so much.

I never flamed, I just had far too many bad experiences, im fine with ragers and even griefers, its mm its even entertaining sometimes. The only thing that bothers me is the amount of cheaters and how untouchable they seem to be. I am fine with all kind of personalities as long as they are playing with their own skill not external help. Then there are the obvious ones, what do you do, leave? Yeah I'm just astonished that me and the people I play with never run into blatant cheaters while a lot of people in the scene say they are everywhere and that it's a big issue. I mean sure there's the odd flick and running HS here and there but it's important to remember that I hit those same shots every now and then, relatively often actually. I never suspect cheating unless someone is visibly using some aim/movement assistance or if they do some nonsensical wallbang/grenade throw that indicates wallhack.

You most likely faced a lot of cheaters and didn't realize it. At least not with that mindset. It's a very healthy mindset and I use the same. My friend doesn't and he'd go down to watch the demos. Clipped the stuff and from their pov they are so fucking obvious. We still smash them most of the time, but yeah. They are around. High trust factor does a lot tho. Seen way less super obvious hackers. When playing with low trust factor people it gets rough. Like 2/2 games getting consistently rekt through d2 doors before crossing. That kind of stuff almost never happens (despite luck) on high tf.

I play mm almost every evening with 4 friends. I do enjoy mm and rarely encounter any cheaters. When i do suspect someone i check the demo and most of the time I'm wrong. I play mm at dmg, le, lem. And at this rank with our good trust factor there seems to be almost no cheaters. And I have never played against a spinbot during my whole mm "career".

I understand what you saying but have in mind this , ill give an example. Last year in a game ( and this happened 3-4 times ) one of my teamates got vac-banned from server so obviously was cheating. He got banned after we played like 10 rounds or so, so i was curious and downloaded our demo to watch him. I assure you, there was not one in a million years to tell he was a cheater. He was playing so normal and so careful that you couldnt tell at all. You see sometimes you have wrong accusations of cheating but sometimes man, it is so real and imo, that is where the problems begin. That you cant tell who is cheating and whos not anymore

Yeah but does it really give you that much of an edge if you are so subtle? Out of those 10 rounds, how many did you win? And was he massively topfragging? Being subtle about cheating means that you won't get mindblowing results, like 95% HS rate with 20+ frags at halftime. And at that point, you're basically equal with a player with good gamesense and aim. At the point, it's not worthwhile.

Well you think it is all about frag ? I mean , a good player all he needs is to know where are you and it is a sure win. He can call a good rotation and bam , round won without even expose himself. Also he can win duels 80% of the time without using aimhack , think about it. You know the angle of your opponent before you see him. Yes you might die sometimes but you got the upper hand , a kill like that and you won the round without the need of having 3-4 kills per round. It is not the noobs that are annoying with hacks , it is good players that are and you dont need mindblowing results to be a cheater and dictate the outcome. You can win a game with cheats and noone can tell. That is what makes cheats a pain in CSGO. Personally i dont have a problem with the obvious cheater that will ruin my game so he can have fun and spin like crazy while getting 5/5 headshots per round. It is the hacker mofo that will pretend is legit and call you a noob about calling him out while continues cheating. Also why you think there are so many cheaters in game ? They hiding it, that is why. They playing at the highest level and keep cheating. They will use it few times that needed and voila , you lost the game and overwatchers cant tell a thing !! Those are the scams of CSGO i despite most.

Thing is though, if you win 80% of your aim duels, you would also get a lot of kills. I mean to be subtle about it you'd have to purposely lose some duels. And at that point, you might as well just play like an average player. Same goes for calling rotations and stuff. Anyone with a decent level of experience in this game could call a correct rotation most of the time. I guess the only appeal is that you'd save yourself all the work of getting hundreds of hours in the game.

I agree. And that what is happening. How do you think PROs that got caught were cheating even in LANs ? They were hiding it, similar to all those cheaters in MM that cant be caught by overwatchers. I feel you beleive me, i know what you saying. All im saying is that there are cheaters who wont be noticeable except if VAC system catch them and still dictate games with one way or another, despite high frags or not. Few infos and few one on one duels or a clutch or two and you are 3-4 rounds down just like that. Yeah very true. But I feel Valve has done a lot of good things to stop cheaters. I mean, VAC, Overwatch, Trust Factor, Prime, VACnet (machine learning) etc. is a lot of anti-cheat measures, and it's also almost 100% accurate. No one gets innocently banned on CS:GO.

There are also people who buy cheats for thousands of euro. Cheats, used by people who cheat in mm, faceit & esea tournaments - that can obviously somehow bypass overwatch. It doesn't happen often, but sometimes I see people with a high steam level, knives, skins who cheat (i once had been playing against a guy who was legit-hacking with a dragon lore and streaming it on steam :DDDD)

There is, I haven't met much, because of good trust factor, but all this did was block out the free cheats from MPGH forums, which usually are not the problem, or what the cheaters use. Everything that is paid works, and external cheats that dont require .dll injections work too, even if free.

Completely useless, I just played a game with that Trusted Mode shit turned on and there were 6 people with cheats, one of them from my team telling each round exactly where each of the rivals were. Amazing. And it's not because of my Trust Factor or shit, I usually get along well with my party mates so I doubt if I ever get a report for toxic. Surely my Trust Factor is high in addition to having Prime status for a long time, but nothing, 2 out of 3 games an obvious cheater.

I dont know about java based, but atleast most of shitty free cheats will not work, depending how frequently valve changes the signature. i created a new account to test that shit. first (and only) game i tried i got 5 cheaters spinbotting. 2 of them were prime accounts 1 dude with 1.5k hours and another dude with 2k hours. i think some of them had skins too. i was completely blown away, i didn't realize shit like that even existed. what i don't understand is whether i was unlucky enough to get those clowns when they finally decided to throw their accounts away or did they spinbot for over 1k hours and never got vacced. nice update btw, thx gaben

I was in two games the other day with 5 man cheater stacks, all with over 2k hours and quite a lot of them with knives and other expensive skins, a guy on my team actually knew both cheater stacks and said they use a german private cheat developed in 2015 which is still undetected, they've been cheating on these accounts for 5 years without getting banned, every hour they have in the game is legit and not boosted hours and they aren't banned, VAC is shit and valve couldn't care less about cheaters.

Trusted mode doesn't do shit, i was in a game against a 5man cheater stack headshotting through walls and smokes ect so after the game i quit out, opted into the beta and turned trusted mode on, my very next game was another 5 man cheater stack who just so happened to be friends with the other 5 man cheater stack.

This is only any good for premium cheats but people in matching use shitty free cheats which are injected into the memory space reserved for csgo so it's basically another part of the game.

Since they give the option for the "3rd party developers" to sign digitally their hacks so they can work in trusted mode, i dont see how this helps. Also, i read that some people got problems with some nvidia functions. And lets agree that nvidia is a huge company and will have no problem signing up their stuff to work in trusted mode. Why are 3rd party developers given the option to do the same?

Guys stop complaining,its NOT possible to create anticheat which will stop all cheats forever. Its always easier to create cheat than anticheat. In cheat app you just finding the way to brake it from existing files in it,but in anticheat you have to find a way how to create files which cant be broken,so you already have to think about how to brake it to be able to prevent it. Its not achievable in this world,hackers will always find a way to brake it. Only way is to update the ac every day and its not going to happen

Because of people like you the cheaters do not get banned and still cheat. When just 1 guy reports an issue - no one listens to him because he's the only 1 that told about the issue, they imply the rest have 0 issues. If my demo was fucking sent to Valve by hundreds or even tens of people - may be that cheater would be banned, but instead I'm getting retarded questions like "why do you want a cheater banned?". Why do you care so much about getting THIS cheater banned? Who is this guy? I play mostly on low trust, non-prime. Play against or together with cheaters almost every match. Report up to 15 players within 3 matches. Everybody reports cheaters, but no one, I repeat, no one has a personal vendetta like you. There are 10 to 40 thousand VAC bans every day in 2020.

So you really think it's just about banning one cheater? OK I will explain something to you. That cheater's not being banned indicates a bigger problem which is that even a cheater that got reported by 5 of his opponents can avoid getting overwatched. We reported him then, 3 months later he still plays. 2 months after that 3 cheaters boosted some 2 handless hobos, one of the cheaters got 6k hours, all three after 1 month passed still aren't banned, although we did report them. Usually an overwatch ban happens within a month, but may be those specific cheaters use specific cheats that bypass overwatch, may be Valve must lower the requirements for a report to be of any value, I mean sometimes may be I reported legit players and my "report rating" went bad, but it must not mean that a 10000% cheater should be able to cheat and not get banned, and I'm sure those 4 cheaters cheat not only against me, still they're not banned, and there are tens of those, if not hundreds, that aren't banned too, and it's an issue of clear sure cheaters not getting banned, not just an issue of 1 cheater that I met 3 months ago, if it's not obvious to you then fucking get your shit together and get some common sense, a cheater should be banned sooner than 3 months, even if he creates a new account he still got banned and will get banned again if the system works like it must work and not like it does now.

It's working. I haven't had any cheaters in the 10 games I played, and that is because I already have a good trust factor, but using this version, just boosted it to even better one. Some people have had worse experiences tho. But, they fucked up and they fucked up big time. You can't use NVIDIA Overlay or NVIDIA Freestyle. You can't stream CS:GO unless you stream and record your whole display, because the game capture won't work anymore. You can't have FACEIT Client overlay on anymore, and you can't have Discord overlay on anymore.

It is complete shit, there was one solution where nvidia game filters worked ingame when playing cs, it was when faceit anticheat was on. But now it doesnt work to play MM with the program opened... ty valve for another shit update
