FURIA top Group B; Chaos advance to DreamHack Open Summer playoffs

Two more teams have booked their spots in the playoffs bracket of DreamHack Open Summer, with FURIA defeating TeamOne and Chaos seeing to the elimination of Ze Pug Godz.

FURIA and Chaos have joined Liquid in the playoffs bracket for DreamHack Open Summer, the Brazilian side defeating TeamOne in the Group B winners' match to secure the top seed while Joshua "⁠steel⁠" Nissan and company brought an end to Group A with a victory over Ze Pug Godz.

Andrei "⁠arT⁠" Piovezan's troops were the first to book their spot, requiring three maps against their countrymen to close out the series. FURIA took control of the series early on, coming out on top of TeamOne's Train pick with a 16-9 victory. Despite a solid 5-0 start to their own pick, Mirage, FURIA were unable to maintain momentum as TeamOne fought back on the T side to take the map, forcing a Nuke decider. There, FURIA reigned supreme, running up a 10-5 lead on the defense before closing out the series following the side swap.

It seemed as if Ze Pug Godz would take a map to open their Group A decider series against Chaos, leading 9-6 on their pick of Inferno, but a lacklustre showing on the defense combined with a stellar showing from Erick "⁠Xeppaa⁠" Bach allowed Chaos to rally back and take the map 16-12. A similar scenario unfolded on Nuke as Jordan "⁠Zellsis⁠" Montemurro and company led 9-6 at the break, but Chaos fought into overtime in the second half off the back of a 2vs5 bomb defuse from Jonathan "⁠Jonji⁠" Carey and multi-kill rounds from Xeppaa to once again edge out victory, 19-15.

Cloud9 and TeamOne will face off in the Group B decider match-up on Wednesday at 19:00 for the final spot in the playoffs bracket, with the winner going up against Liquid when the semi-finals get underway.
