Cloud9 to transfer current roster and undergo complete rebuild

The organization is committed to finding Johnny "⁠JT⁠" Theodosiou and company a new home as it's about to restructure the entire CS:GO division.

The South African-American composition will continue to represent Cloud9 in ESL Pro League Season 12 while the Los Angeles-based company searches for a new organization for the entire current lineup and begins the restructuring process.

The move will see C9 overhaul the CS:GO division for the fourth time in two and a half difficult years. While the ELEAGUE Major-winning lineup disintegrated one by one in 2018, the organization struggled to keep a stable five and its team became mostly European following countless changes during the rest of the year and the first half of 2019.

When that direction failed, Cloud9 placed their trust in Damian "⁠daps⁠" Steele and his brand new lineup for the latter half of 2019, but the majority of that unit ended up being acquired by Gen.G after just five months, leaving the organization without a roster.

T.c's team's time at Cloud9 is coming to an end

Cloud9 has boasted the squad around Tiaan "⁠T.c⁠" Coertzen since the start of 2020, having acquired them from ATK following their impressive campaign at ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals, where the team beat North and G2 on the way to a seventh-eighth placing while only losing to the tournament's eventual champions, MOUZ.

The JT-led side have been unable to replicate that success under the new banner, however. They kicked off 2020 by qualifying for DreamHack Open Leipzig and IEM Katowice only to get eliminated in the group stage at both tournaments, before finishing fourth in the first season of Flashpoint as the scene transitioned online.

Since then, Cloud9 have enjoyed a few highlight moments such as third place at ESL One: Road to Rio, above both Evil Geniuses and Liquid, but otherwise stagnated as they struggled to take their game to the next level and begin contending for regional titles.

Look at FaZe when they kicked the IGL (Karrigan) and got someone else to do it. Only good individual performance for a long period of time was Niko everyone else was poor. You can see how young players perform in Olof's roles which he had in FaZe. Change his position to a star rifler and you'll get much better results from him. GuardiaN is looking crisp in FPL but I have to agree with oskar, he looked mediocre in Sprout. Also they bring a lot of experience and the duo Olof and Guardian played together before so they would be more familiar with each other's play styles.

Hard not to wonder how well these guys could do with a stricter IGL and coach. Guys who will drill some discipline into them and get them over that hump of playing every match like it's FFA. There's still plenty of potential in there. Gen.G is a South Korean org with a team playing NA that is comprised of daps plus four Asians. They aren't dropping someone for floppy. oSee might be Asian enough to replace daps though. BnTeT can IGL again and Auti can go back to rifling. Meanwhile in whatever new org Sonic can go back to AWPing where he belongs, they can bring in a promising FPL/MDL rifler and the sign daps to IGL (for that discipline) and tryout JT as coach. Everyone's a winner.

The next week is gonna be interesting cant wait to see who they pick up!

What this means is that a) They are not satisfied at the results but they cannot fire them because of contract, which we do not know details of. There could be a clause that prevents them from doing this.
