G2 secure BLAST Premier Fall Finals spot with win over MIBR

The Europan team ensured a top-2 finish in BLAST Premier Fall Series group C and will be playing the next part of the tournament in December.

MIBR took the fight to G2 on the first two maps of the decider series as both Nuke and Dust2 went into overtime, but the Brazilians fell short on Train, where Kenny "⁠kennyS⁠" Schrub and co. ensured the match victory and a spot in the BLAST Premier Fall Finals.

François "⁠amanek⁠" Delaunay, who could be on the chopping block for G2 as they try to figure out who will make place for Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač, had another strong series, topping the scoreboard with a 1.30 rating. The MIBR duo which struggled in the former lineup, Alencar "⁠trk⁠" Rossato and Vito "⁠kNgV-⁠" Giuseppe, also showed up in the match, posting 1.11 and 1.12 ratings respectively.

G2 have one more game to play in the group stage, as they will rematch against Astralis to decide who will have the higher seed at the Fall Finals.

Nuke was pinpointed as a must-win for MIBR by BLAST's analysts and the Brazilian side started their pick well, going up 5-1 after an early force-buy win. amanek and Nemanja "⁠huNter-⁠" Kovač stepped up on the A site holds as G2 got back into it, managing seven rounds before switching to the offense.

The Europeans pulled into the lead by winning the T-side pistol, making the score 11-8 when MIBR won an eco, locking down A. However, no momentum was built for the underdogs until after G2 reached map point, with the trio of kNgV-, Leonardo "⁠leo_drk⁠" Oliveira, and trk posting more than 20 kills each as they forced overtime. Unfortunately for MIBR, G2 came out on top with a flawless overtime, despite a quiet game from NiKo who mustered just 10 frags in 34 rounds.

Having defeated Astralis in their first showing on Dust2 with NiKo, there were high expectations for G2 on the second map of the series. Force-buys being traded early led to a slight, 5-4 lead for Nemanja "⁠nexa⁠" Isaković's team, but winning the following round with a B-split was key to building a strong Terrorist side half, 9-6.

G2 powered forward with a flawless CT pistol and with nexa leading by example, reached a 14-9 lead. A triple from leo_drk stopped the bleeding at a key moment, helping MIBR build a late comeback, just like on Nuke. This time, they didn't let it slip away, though, with trk's triple kill finishing Dust2 19-17 in the Brazilians' favor.

NiKo came online fully on Train, sitting on a 14K-4D scoreline as G2 cruised to an 8-1 lead on the CT side. A clutch from trk got MIBR their second and saw them pick up four for the half, giving some hope for a comeback. That dream was short-lived, as G2 allowed their opponents just one round before closing out the map 16-5.

Every video posted by mibr said "we are losing our training sessions". Could it be a simple method to avoid hopes? They had a few days to training together so It was the the reason for team play faults. Only the time will say if they will be a good team.

I like GuardiaN, but I'm pretty sure that he does not perform well with teammates like Niko or S1mple. He just does not cope well with high ego players. If he hits some slump, he would have problem to get back with Niko on his back. I might be wrong, but I have this vibe from him and I consider Niko and S1mple as same players in regards of their expectation on teammates.

These Blast tournaments are confusing me alot. Who is qualifying for which tournament? Who is getting invited where and why? Who gets what reward for finishing at the top of their group in currently ongoing blast tourny, it's just so confusing!

Nope, Liquipedia should be updated and his nationality should look the same as Hunter. Also don't know if its Hunter's wish to be displayed as Bosnian on HLTV since his hltv account's flag is Serbian and calls himself a Serb. Proof: hltv.org/profile/350557/nesi-w Niko lives in Serbia anyway. So is he really more Bosnian than Serbian? on esl site you can change your nationality freely, it isn't bound to your passport. i don't think he has german nationality but he has german relatives/ancestors. looking at their surnames there are actually quite a few players with german ancestry outside of germany.
