NAVI edge past Astralis on B1T’s debut at BLAST Premier Fall Finals

Astralis have dropped to the lower bracket after being unable to convert a 13-9 lead on the deciding map against NAVI and are set to face MOUZ for their tournament lives.

Fans of the latest move from Natus Vincere didn't have to wait long to see the fresh face of Valeriy "⁠b1t⁠" Vakhovskiy on the server after he was announced as the team's sixth player just hours before the match, as he slotted in instead of Egor "⁠flamie⁠" Vasilyev for the first map of the series already, Inferno.

The newest member of the CIS squad struggled individually on the opener, but Oleksandr "⁠s1mple⁠" Kostyliev was there to pick up the slack, leading the NAVI camp in the close battle. However, despite the superstar's efforts, Astralis ended up coming out on top 16-14 after a solid offensive half and a six-round run on the CT side.

s1mple led the way to the comeback on Nuke with a monster streak

flamie was back in action for Nuke, but in the meantime Astralis switched out Andreas "⁠Xyp9x⁠" Højsleth for Lucas "⁠Bubzkji⁠" Andersen, as has been their custom in the last few matches. Undefeated on Nuke since joining the Danish powerhouse, Bubzkji was on course to keep his flawless record on the map as Astralis were leading 12-6 and had the momentum on their side, but then s1mple arrived.

With a quad-kill, the Ukrainian monster kicked off a mega-streak of six consecutive multikills to pull Natus Vincere through to the deciding map on the back of a ten-round run on the defense, during which s1mple put up 21 kills and only died once, all the way at the very end.

An incredibly back-and-forth Dust2 affair decided the series. At first, NAVI were in complete control as they were leading 8-1 on the CT side, but then Astralis took over and got off on a dominant run of their own. Finishing the half with six to their name, the Danes soon equalized the score on the back of Lukas "⁠gla1ve⁠" Rossander's 1v3 clutch in the pistol and went on to come within three rounds of victory, until the tide turned again when Natus Vincere kicked into another gear with several late-round wins to pick up the series at 16-14, 2-1.

i feel like usually the best matches are not that important... because everyone feel no pressure. great match all around. This match is all you can ask for in an online era. Literally in the 12 - 6 to 12 - 16 streak navi had on nuke: Device went from: 19 - 10 to 22 - 19. From almost 2kd to 3 kills in 10 rounds, 2 of them being the first one they lost in the streak. Gla1ve went from: 18 - 8 to 19 - 18 More than 2 kd to 1 kill in 10 rounds. The chances of both carry players on a team in a match go from 200% performance to 10% performance within the same round is so fucking slim and yet it happened. So it should've been a close 2 - 0 for Astralis but NaVi did well in coming back. Dust2 was to late for me to watch unfortunately.

Back in 2016, when s1mple was the solo-carry of team liquid, HLTV Top20 rankings were dependent on team achievements (like tournaments, majors, etc) lot more than individuals. Even though Liquid didn't win majors, s1mple was still 4th, and the most successful entry fragger. I know that you hate s1mple very much, but it doesn't hurt to acknowledge achievements :)

Out of all great games these teams had people are gonna say this is the GOAT awesome match. Given the circumstances, (the CSPPA drama delay) it couldn't be a goat match. Late night games for such unexpected reasons are starting to get puggy when you play D2 after 1am. I believe we have less long tech pauses compared to years ago but the late games don't help anyone, especially when it was a BO3 scheduled for like 19:30. Imagine if MouseVit went 3 maps not to mention any overtime. Love both teams but would never say this was a goat game. Game of shitty misplays and s1mple going god mode at times. It's not elimination match and was really a great game. Na'vi wrecked them in Katowice, Astralis reverse sweep them in EPL season 12. This Blast finals can be one hell of a conclusion. Hoping to see a rematch in the Finals!
