Cloud9 release woxic

The Turkish AWPer is free to explore his options after parting ways with the "Colossus" on mutual agreement.

Özgür "⁠woxic⁠" Eker's stint with Cloud9 has come to an end after just three months, the American organization announced on Twitter on Monday. The 22-year-old's contract was terminated, effective January 14, allowing him to search out new opportunities as a free agent.

"This decision may come as a shock to many of the fans," Henry "⁠HenryG⁠" Greer, the team's General Manager wrote on Twitter, "but allowing this to continue wouldn't have been in the best interest of the squad in the long run".

During his time on the team, woxic played just 24 maps, with his last one dating to December 16th, when Cloud9 lost to FORZE in MIDNITE Nine to Five 7. He averaged a 1.00 rating while representing the team, which he leaves due to problems that were logistically "almost insurmountable", according to HenryG.

The former commentator noted "unreliable high ping" and a "compromising time zone" as reasons Cloud9 parted ways with woxic, who was brought in from MOUZ on a three-year deal worth $1.365 million.

According to reports from earlier in January, Cloud9 are close to signing former Chaos player Erick "⁠Xeppaa⁠" Bach, who could complete the lineup ahead of the new season. Additionally, Rush B Media reported that Chris "⁠Elmapuddy⁠" Tebbit is looking to step into the coaching slot left vacant by Aleksandar "⁠kassad⁠" Trifunović, who similarly to woxic departed the team over the winter player break.
