The Slovakian sniper is out of his contract with Natus Vincere and is looking for new opportunities.

Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács took to Twitter to announce that he is a free agent, open to pursuing new options. The 29-year-old AWPer had been on Natus Vincere's bench since January 2020, when he was replaced by Ilya "⁠Perfecto⁠" Zalutskiy in the starting lineup. Three months later, he made a brief appearance for Dignitas in Flashpoint 1, replacing Håkon "⁠hallzerk⁠" Fjærli.

GuardiaN is out of a contract

Holder of eight MVP medals and six Top 20 player of the year appearances, GuardiaN had a rough time after rejoining Natus Vincere at the end of 2019. He struggled to replicate the form he had shown during his previous tenure with the team and ended on the bench two months into his contract.

In September 2020, GuardiaN wrote about getting back into shape, claiming that he has "unfinished business in Counter-Strike". He also mentioned his "Major curse": finishing second at three Majors, twice with Natus Vincere and once with FaZe, and his desire to finally win the biggest tournament in Counter-Strike.

Kinda, I'm a fan of Olof, wish he was the best player in the world and wish hes was what he was back in 2015, but he's not, I wanted him out of Faze years ago as I didnt think he was pulling his weight. I was the same with GTR in NiP, I wanted him to be as good as he once was but he clearly wasnt and he clearly wasnt good enough anymore for top level CS. However on the KennyS topic, he hasnt been the best for about a year now and from an awper thats not good, also now they have Niko they have basically just magnified all of their problems.

Look at falleN, or shox, or RpK. Age is just a number (well kinda), as long as the player has insane motivation to grind back to the top. Players generally lose the mental fight, which leaves them unable to fight physical shortcomings.

This particular topic annoys me. Studies have shown that those abilities that make an esports player good (reflexes, hand eye coordination, etc) aren’t effected by age until late 30s and early 40s. The people being labelled as too old are the ones that no longer put the game on their highest priority, whether it be their family or just being uninterested. For instance, some active players don’t even bother doing aim training because they only play roles in their teams. The game becomes a job for them, and guardians proving he’s still interested in playing it

As a 39 year old I can say that's true. Most of it is just time or dedication. I can tell I'm not quite as sharp as I was when I was in my 20s, but it's not drastic enough to matter. The biggest thing after 30 is that your body is less comfortable with pushing a lot of hours, so 8+ hour games of CS can definitely cause some distress or pain. It's been talked about a lot but the biggest thing at 30+ is time. Chances are you will be prioritizing different things by that point in your life, I know I've been.

Age is always the excuse people use when players lose form, but it's almost always others reasons where age is simply a secondary reason. Snax lost his form at 25 and became basically a below average player while at the same age Fallen was a major winner and 2nd ranked player of that year. The real issue is whether a player still has the mental and physical capacity to grind to get back to that top level. In the history of this game there wasn't really any player that got back to a star/fragger role after losing his form. Sure shox is a solid tier1 player, but he is far from his top form of 5 years ago. And still shox is even the best example, most other stars players after losing their form became irrelevant (gtr, snax, olof and guardian) Guardian after losing his form at best may be a decent support/5th best on a team, but giving him a dedicated awp role is a waste of time. I don't trust a player that said he was gonna retire after FaZe to bring back that form, not gonna happen

Guardian's main problem to me seems to be that he doesn't care and doesn't grind anymore. He got caught in the " marriage trap " and has been gentrifying, softening and losing motivation slowly but steadily since he's been married . Then when his aim/skill got impacted it made him lose confidence and he got tentative --> vicious circle. I don't think his " drop " has anything to do with age, he just needs to get his act/sh*t together and regroup. Set up priorities straight, if he wants to make a final t1 run and earn good money in the process he needs to dedicate to his job.

Well, HenryG said in one interview he doesn't want a player who is old and out of form in his team. He didn't say the exact name but in the context, it was obvious he meant GuardiaN. The interview was before C9 started announcing their new roster with woxic etc. So maybe after all that has happened HenryG can change his mind but I doubt it.

Nope it makes them smart. If you hold Guardian when he works out or you release him after end of the contract you have enough time to plan for the future. Cuz otherwise you end up as C9 and pay for an average player as es3tag a S1mple /Niko contract. That would cost more than 1 year on the bench.

I really like him and his style of play, but I highly doubt that he can get an opportunity in a t1 team. Sad, but he is a bit old now and there are plenty of young talent.
