The Polish side stole away the victory in three maps, sending the Swedes to the lower bracket of the Regional Major Ranking event.

Anonymo bounced back from a thrashing on Overpass (16-3 Ninjas in Pyjamas) and clawed their way to a series upset on Nuke (16-13) and Mirage (19-17), kicking off their Flashpoint 3 campaign on the right foot.

A loss in their first match with Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz wasn't what Ninjas in Pyjamas were hoping for going into the match against the team ranked No. 44 in the world. It wasn't only the debut of the Dane that was spoiled, though, but also the spectacle of the match as it was plagued by technical issues and pauses.

Ninjas in Pyjamas CEO Hicham Chahine claims that significant packet loss for the members of the Swedish organization led to "unplayable" conditions for his team. Early into the match, after an hour-long delay on the first map, device took to Twitter to share that his team will have to "play on 30-40% [packet] loss", expanding following the defeat that the loss spikes didn't improve throughout the series. The AWPer, who still posted a server-high 1.32 rating, explained "he couldn't move" in a clutch situation against Janusz "⁠Snax⁠" Pogorzelski, while Fredrik "⁠REZ⁠" Sterner added that he was unable to use utility due to the poor connection.

Regardless of the issues Ninjas in Pyjamas claimed to have, the result of the match sees Ninjas in Pyjamas drop to the lower bracket, where they will have to beat the loser of FunPlus Phoenix - HYENAS to stay alive in the all-important Major-qualifying tournament.

mynio was the star in Anonymo's upset

Paweł "⁠innocent⁠" Mocek's quad kill opened up the series on Overpass with a pistol win for Anonymo, which Ninjas in Pyjamas instantly replied to with a force-buy victory. An extended tech pause followed, from which the Swedish side returned inspired. Mid-round situations kept going the way of Ninjas in Pyjamas with youngster Erik "⁠ztr⁠" Gustafsson leading the fragging as they reached a 12-3 lead. device matched innocent's CT pistol performance with a 4K of his own after the switch, bringing the map to a swift conclusion, 16-3.

The Poles offered more resistance on Nuke, sprinting to a 4-2 lead as they started things off on the offense. device came online soon, inspiring Ninjas in Pyjamas to seize control of the map (9-5) with opening frags and multikills. Anonymo got back into it with the last round of the half and second pistol going their way, equalizing things at 9-9. The squads were neck-and-neck for the rest of the map, but Wiktor "⁠mynio⁠" Kruk's team managed to pull it across the line on the defense for a 16-13 win.

In what was device's first Mirage official since 2019, Ninjas in Pyjamas started off well (5-1), but Snax and co. gained steam as the half progressed, finishing it just one round behind after mynio's 1v4 clutch. The two teams were inseparable in the second half, pushing the decider to overtime where the Poles stole away the series 19-17.

I do understand that they might have some problems but it's just ridiculous to state that they had 30-40% loss. It is unplayable and even so it would be clearly seen on GOTV/Stream. Apart from that fact I did not see frustration on NIP players faces while they were trashing ANONYMO on Overpass, but joy and fist bumps all over the place. Let's be honest you are not putting 1.34 rating through out series with 30-40% loss even if you are playing against lvl 6 faceit players. It is just dumb thing to say.

absolutely. and a professional org, one of the biggest in the world with their own place, and they don't have a secondary internet line from totaly separate ISP? like it's common knowledge that ISPs won't have 100% uptime, sometime there have to occur some technical problems, and you don't want to risk having them in the middle of an official game, especially in the times when the life of this game takes place entirely online. they didn't consider it and they learned it the hard way, the can only blame themselves.

I hope you realize that even tier 3 teams are still capable of playing good mechanical cs. The big difference is tactics and decision making. Not raw fire power. So if NiP played with the lag that they're saying, they could lose to a pug. In normal conditions, it would probably be a swift 2-0

Congrats to Anonymo supporters and GJ by the team. First official match with new comms language and with 40% loss , NiP obviously would need some time to adjust but the problem that they have shown throughout with these youngsters was still there with them being inconsistent as the maps progress. It's called peering when you route traffic between 2 ISPs. In fact faceit servers in diffrent locations might be using diffrent ISPs. When NiP was still having issues when they were checking diffrent servers, it's rather problem on their own end. This seems likely also because other teams didn't have such a issues.

It seems common for danish players to put dumb things after win/lose scenario. Kjaerby stating they didn't play well after winning a major against VP in 2017. Device stating that he had 40% packet loss which unables you to move from the spawn and yet putting 1.34 rating. They really need some PR person to tell them not to make dumb posts like this.

it depends what kinda loss it is tbh, i have tried 5% where its literally unplayable and 40% where it just feels like 100ping

There is no type of the loss packets. Loss packets means lost information between client (you) and the server (host). 40% packet loss it means that during one second 360 spin on spawn, server would notice only 60% of your input (mouse movement) which means you would make only 216 degrees spin. Therefore it is really unplayable and only reason people believe in such bullshit is because they lack basic IT knowledge. Besides all player would have to suffer from the same issues and yet you see rez and device crying the most.

Great explanation of loss, but you haven't taken into consideration the fact that packets are received in a non-deterministic order, thus if you happen to get a 40% package loss, continuing with your example of a 360º spin, the spin won't be as linear as you've said, possibly making an instant jump from 30º to 290º. Also, playing with 40% loss doesn't mean you continuously play with that kind of package loss, since it looks the case in this game was rather loss spikes, which could greatly affect important moments, such as the 1v1 on Mirage.

At least we had more total rounds :) NIP era 90 minutes (50 of which was tech pause) Kappa If the conditions were as bad as NIP claimed (and nothing could be done about it in the first 50 min tech pause) then just postpone the match... There's plenty of time to play it earlier tomorrow. Unacceptable in 2021

Great job for Anonymo but I think a rematch is necessary, as the final result will never be resolute due to the surrounding conditions, it will forever be contested as a "what if"... I'm personally a big fan of "the show must always go on" but context is key and 30%-40% is borderline unplayable... We can argue the ifs and buts till we're blue in the face but at the end of the day, unless either team contests the result, it's final. With the elephant in the room addressed, both teams put on a blinder of a match and I thank both teams for it. :)

I think it's a lose/lose situation. In the interest of fairness I actually think the result should stand. The reason for that is because NiP did in fact choose to play the game despite the issues they clearly knew they were having. Had they won, they surely wouldn't have contested the result and it would stand regardless of the issues. Why should they be awarded a second chance because of an issue they knowingly played with? Why should Anonymo be penalised for an issue that they had nothing to do with after a game that from their point of view they won fair and square? At the same time I do agree that if the lag was indeed as bad as claimed then it is a very empty victory, but a victory nonetheless imo. *just my 2 cents though, I'll be watching to see how things unfold :-)

The "problems" were definitely present but misinformed overall. Device suffered 40% packet loss spikes, they were not constant but like you stated, despite starting from the first map, Device still destroyed Anonymo, leading the audience to believe nothing was wrong. I agree with you, there is no way of us knowing if the problems were indeed as impacting as Device claims or if the result would've indeed been the same regardless of the issues at all. Still a bummer for one of the most hyped matches of the entire year...

Yeah, but shouldn't be any hype over a #13 team meeting a #44 team. This should have been a walkover for NiP and really thought it would be. Poor Hyenas on Sunday, facing a very angry and motivated device (who did play very well btw against Anonymo)

Yes because loss and choke are different Loss mostly consists beetwen client and server choke is mostly server-sided So from the definition of it they said their german servers are not working so they probably have shit routing with the german servers in their bootcamp and they should have reported issue before game started or should have investigated it further instead of calling flashpoint shit with shitty conditions.
