EG's woes continue as NIP progress in BLAST Premier Spring Final lower bracket

After showing promise at IEM Summer, Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's team exited the BLAST event in last place.

Ninjas in Pyjamas have progressed in the BLAST Premier Spring Final lower bracket following a 2-0 victory over Evil Geniuses (Overpass 16-11, Dust2 16-12). Nicolai "device" Reedtz & co. will next face the losing side of the upper bracket semi-final match between BIG and Natus Vincere, on Friday at 15:30 .

The match saw Evil Geniuses eliminated in last place after the North American-European combine fell to the lower bracket at the hands of Gambit in the opening round. Despite showing promise with a playoffs finish at IEM Summer, stanislaw's team's track record has once again taken a turn for the worse as they've been unable to pick up wins despite several close results.

EG will hope to turn their luck around after they get a few more weeks of practice ahead of the last event of the season, IEM Cologne, where the team will begin their campaign in the Play-in stage on July 6. Until then, Evil Geniuses will keep bootcamping in Europe, according to Owen "oBo" Schlatter.

REZ was on fire on Overpass

Evil Geniuses hoped to turn their record around on Overpass after having lost the previous five out of six encounters on the map in the past three months, but they were unable to get out of the rut despite a solid start on the offense after running into a strong-looking Ninjas in Pyjamas. Hampus "hampus" Poser & co. took a couple of gunrounds to warm up to the map but once they got the economy on their side they took over the half, turning it around from a 2-6 with a flawless run from then on.

With the second pistol round going their way, the Swedes and Dane quickly reached 14 while Fredrik "REZ" Sterner continued to run rampant following a great first half, finishing just shy of the 30-kill mark as he helped his team secure the series lead at 16-11.

Dust2 was a much more closely-contested battle from start to finish. After Ninjas in Pyjamas got off to the better start, Evil Geniuses remained within touching distance of their opponents as the two went back and forth. It was the Swedes who came out of the half with a one-round lead and clinched the following pistol to reach double digits first, but the North American-European side were quickly hot on their heels after powering through the A bombsite in consecutive rounds. After more blows were traded between the two teams, Ninjas in Pyjamas found some momentum at 12-12 on the back of early openings and busted EG's economy, rallying to a 16-12 victory.

Cool story, he was also the 2nd worst fragger while being his team's AWP.

You know, at T1 CSGO awpers are negated quite easily nowadays. Maybe you're new to the game. You can watch pennyS' stream right now - a bottom fragging awper even in the fucking FPL.

Yeah man. S1mple, sh1ro, device, ZywOo all clearly are struggling with sub 1.0 ratings. I guess AWPS just aren't what they used to be, am I right? Ps: I've played this game probably longer than you've been alive. KennyS hasn't been good in years what are you trying to even say???

device without Astralis is a pale imitation of himself. s1mple nowadays plays rifles as often as the AWP. ZywOo has often relegated the AWP to someone else in 2021. Only sh1ro is somewhat consistent in his awping but so was devve when Astralis was at its height. Come again please.

1.) Cheap, regurgitated opinion from someone who signed up to this site in 2018 who didn't realize device was on teams that weren't Astralis and performed just as well. Also device is still putting in 1.10+ performances on a worse team than Astralis, so super excellent rationale. 2.) That's always been s1mple. 3.) ZywOo is still primary AWP despite shox taking it up as secondary. Shocker: you can't always afford an AWP. 4.) sh1ro. 5.) cadiaN Come back when you've hit puberty.

In a recent match he was destroying everyone left n right, today against NiP he went 4/12 in T side Overpass and really terrible in the map overall but was really really good in Dust 2 And KAST doesn't really say much, Jame for example is the KAST god
2021-06-17 01:12

Just hide and don't die the ENTIRE game (BO1/3/5) and you'll have 100% KAST. KAST doesn't really say all that much if we just want to look at stats.

How would you fix EG? As oBo mentioned in the post match interview, they could use more time after recently adding Michu. As well, not having a coach has hurt them slightly from the tactical stand point. I still consider Stanislaw one of the better fraggin IGL's, but even if you replaced him there isn't a ton of choices out there for IGL's right now. Brehze seems to be getting back on track, but he hasn't looked the same to me since the Kreig nerf. Also he seemed to fall into a slump once ethan left for Valorant, also Tarik leaving seemed to have a down effect on both Brehze & cerQ. cerQ has been fairly inconsistent and I am not sure he enjoys playing with the current team structure as he seems to be getting frustrated fairly easily, which I think Tarik use to pick him back up and without Tarik cerQ doesn't seem the same. I would almost say to -cerQ +Junior as I think Junior is a fairly consistent player but had obvious communication issues in Furia. Just spit balling some ideas, what's your thoughts?

I think u get rid of cerq first and then if that doesn’t help, you go for a new igl. I always thought trying out tarik as the igl would be good

-stan igl +stan coach Oh wait he kinda is the coach too man, igling coach the glory days. Seriously though anyone know or hear rumors of new EG coach? Stan probably just stressed out and deprived of 100% organic canadian maple syrup. He needs some weight of his shoulders. I have a few taps in my trees.

The structure isn't there, the strats aren't there, the firepower isn't there, I don't see a way in which this EG lineup works out. NIP made some stupid mistakes and they actually lost more rounds than I expected, but still good win for them.
