AmaNEk shines as G2 come back to send Complexity packing at BLAST

Massive late-game impact from the AWPer pushed G2 over the line as they pulled off a reverse sweep on Complexity.

G2 have advanced to the lower bracket final at BLAST Premier Spring Final following a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Complexity. The French-Balkan team have secured their fourth consecutive top-four finish at the event as they hope to go one step further this time in their clash against Ninjas in Pyjamas in the lower bracket final, taking place on Saturday at 18:30 .

François "⁠amanek⁠" Delaunay was in the spotlight throughout the series as G2 came back from a map deficit following a loss on Vertigo, with the recently-appointed AWPer stepping up to the plate with several big multi-kills and clutches to close out Nuke and Mirage when the pressure mounted in the late stages of both maps.

"[AmaNEk] is finally activated and, honestly, all the teams should be scared now that they're going up against him," Nemanja "⁠nexa⁠" Isaković said on the official broadcast shortly after the win before heaping praises on his teammate's work ethic. "It's him hitting his shots and it's him doing the proper rotations, blocking key areas on proper timings. Honestly, that's all him and all the hard work he put in."

The series began on Vertigo, which saw Complexity pick up quite a comfortable victory despite G2 getting off to a good start. A Benjamin "⁠blameF⁠" Bremer quad-kill in the second-round forcebuy helped the American-European combine soften the blow early on, and a key 1v2 clutch from Justin "⁠jks⁠" Savage allowed the team to ramp up momentum late in the half to go on a six-round run.

With a 9-6 half going their way and a second pistol in the bag, blameF & co. went unanswered and got within two rounds of victory, which gave them the cushion needed to find a way through G2's defenses and pick up a 16-11 win on the opening map.

The French-Balkan team responded on Nuke, securing their map pick on the back of a great display from amanek, who was on fire throughout the second map as he pulled off a couple of game-changing plays to help G2 equalize the series. The 27-year-old was a key factor in a 2v4 victory that turned the tide in the first half, and several more big multikills in the second, including a flashy 1v3 Scout clutch, pulled the team over the line.

Things looked dire for G2 at first on Mirage when they began the first half down 1-8, with the only round going their way coming at the hands of Audric "⁠JACKZ⁠" Jug's 1v2 clutch, but the nexa-led side managed to salvage their chances with the in-game leader and Nemanja "⁠huNter-⁠" Kovač combining for five consecutive rounds.

After sides switched at 6-9, all Complexity could muster was a clean pistol round win, as from there on it was all about G2. Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač kicked things off with a 1v2 clutch in the second-round forcebuy, and after they equalized the score amanek was the man of the hour once again, putting up a triple, a 1v1 clutch, and a quad-kill in the last five rounds to put the series to rest at 16-10, 2-1.
