ALEX and mezii in talks with fnatic - Report

The British duo is at the top of fnatic's list of replacements for Maikil "⁠Golden⁠" Selim and Jesper "⁠JW⁠" Wecksell.

fnatic have been engaged in talks with former Cloud9 duo Alex "⁠ALEX⁠" McMeekin and William "⁠mezii⁠" Merriman, according to a report by 1pv.fr.

Should the two Brits come to terms with the organization, they would be replacing Golden and JW, who were benched from the Swedish team in July while fnatic announced their plans to shift to an international roster.

ALEX could be joining fnatic as their new in-game leader

As one of the most high-profile in-game leaders currently on the market as a free agent, ALEX was certain to be in fnatic's sights once they decided to part ways with their former shot-caller. At the moment, the only other feasible, proven, and free option to take the reins seems to be Mathias "⁠MSL⁠" Lauridsen, who has also been looking out for a new team in the past few months.

ALEX last captained the Cloud9 roster touted as the 'Colossus', which also featured mezii. The project was disbanded in March after they were largely unable to live up to high expectations amidst multiple roster changes, with the Los Angeles-based organization deciding to put its CS:GO division on hold for the time being.

mezii is currently plying his trade in Endpoint, with whom he found great form following a difficult period individually in Cloud9, now averaging a 1.22 rating over the last three months as by far the highest-rated player of the British squad.

fnatic's roster would be the following in case of a signing of the two Brits:

bro the talent in the team was shit and they made to top 20. henryg with his ego hyped the team af saying they'd be #1 but the talent wasn't there. alex did admirably good given the talent and constant roster changes to where they'd always challenge in the top 20 and they'd usually face the top 10 and play them close so tbh it was a success.

That's a fair shake. Mezii isn't top class, but he's quite alright. Vitality has never been as good without ALEX as with him, so he's clearly a competent IGL, and C9 was even doing quite well with mediocre players under him. Definitely back to the top 20 I think, but still not top 10.

Good move tbh. The current fnatic roster cant do much anymore together, so they need to separate ways to light some fire in their bellys again. ALEX wants to prove himself again, and mezii sure wants to show he can STILL smash it in high tier CS. Brollan will be happy to finally have someone else in the team he can rely on will click some headshots, krimz can take on that supportive element, holding down B sites on his own etc. ALEX can help build up the confidence of jackinho to go for the aggresive AWP peeks and be a strong fragger for the team
