Bravos defeat Sharks to win CBCS Elite League Season 2

Bravos came back from an 11-15 deficit on the decider to take home the series victory and earn 2,000 Regional Major Ranking (RMR) points.

Bravos have claimed first place in CBCS Elite League Season 2, the second South American RMR event of the year, defeating Sharks 2-1 in the grand final. The victory marks the first time a team other than MIBR have won a South American RMR event, and pushes Adriano "WOOD7" Cerato's troops to third place in the regional RMR standings, below MIBR and Sharks.

The single-elimination playoff bracket kicked off with Sharks battling their way past Liberty in the opening round, which was followed by an upset win over the regional kings MIBR in a three-map series in the semi-finals. MIBR still secured a consolation prize in the third-place decider match, where they defeated Paquetá to earn 1,750 RMR points and narrowly keep themselves at the top of the standings.

On the other side of the bracket, Bravos fought past SWS before claiming revenge against Paquetá, making up for a previous loss to the team in the third-place decider of CBCS Elite Series Season 1 in May to advance to the grand final.

JOTA was the key to winning Ancient

The final kicked off on Bravos' pick of Nuke, with a very scrappy first half that resulted in an impressive 18-kill performance from Romeu "zevy" Rocco. Despite the young Sharks AWPer continuing his strong play, Bravos pulled away in the second half and secured the first map 16-10.

Sharks were in control from the very start of Vertigo, picking up a strong 11-4 lead on the Terrorist side. Bravos were unable to get a comeback started in the second half as zevy and Lucas "Lucaozy" Neves led the charge for Sharks, finishing off map two 16-8.

The decider, Ancient, started off very poorly for Sharks, with Fillipe "pancc" Martins's side losing seven rounds in a row before finally picking up one of their own. Despite the rough beginning, Sharks were still able to claw their way back to a 7-8 halftime score, and kept their foot on the gas heading into the second half, powering their way to secure match point.

However, Bravos weren't finished yet, and won four rounds in a row to force overtime, maintaining momentum until the closing moments to edge out a map win, 19-17, to take the series.

“ With one more RMR left to be played in the fall before one Challenger team advancing to the Stockholm Major is determined, the standings for South America can be found below” Funny thing because the fall on the Southern Hemisphere it’s from March to May. Maybe you were trying to say spring?
