IEM Fall to host final round of RMR events
ESL will organize the last Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournaments in all six regions, with the European event set to be held on LAN.
ESL has announced that it will host the final round of RMR tournaments, which will serve as the last chance for teams to gain points in the ranking that will determine the participants of PGL Major Stockholm.
All six events will be held under the IEM Fall banner and take place online in every region but one: North America (12 teams), South America (4 teams), CIS (12 teams), Asia (4 teams), and Oceania (4 teams). The European tournament is the only one that will be played on LAN at an undisclosed location, featuring 24 teams.

The qualifying process for IEM Fall will kick off at the end of August and run until September 12, followed by closed qualifiers on September 12-16. The main event, held on September 29-October 10, will have a total of $255,000 and up to 2,500 points in the Regional Major Ranking in each region on offer.
The news means that most regions will have had only two RMR events to gain points from in total in 2021, with the exception of CIS and South America, which puts pressure on some of the teams who were unsuccessful in the first set of tournaments to perform at IEM Fall.
In Europe, OG, fnatic, and FaZe are among the most notable teams who currently find themselves outside of the 11 qualifying spots to the Major allocated to the region. In other regions, the likes of Virtus.pro and Extra Salt will also need a good result in the final RMR competition to advance to the Stockholm event, taking place on October 23-November 7.
As a result of IEM Fall changing status to a Regional Major Ranking tournament, Renewal will no longer have a spot secured at the event following their win in DreamHack Open June Asia. Instead, the tournament will follow qualification guidelines set by Valve, with half of the participating teams determined via the current RMR standings and the remainder coming from qualifiers.
