G2 suffer second ESL Pro League defeat at the hands of OG

Damien "maLeK" Marcel’s men continue to struggle in Group B after falling to OG in two maps.

The question asked before the series by analysts and commentators on the ESL broadcast was "is 24 hours enough to get G2 switched on?," referring to the French-Balkan squad’s start to their Pro League run with a shocking defeat to the newly promoted SINNERS, but G2 were not able to find their groove in that time as they have now fallen in the second match day to OG with two particularly unfocused terrorist halves in a fairly one-sided loss.

The slow start for G2 in ESL Pro League could become a problem as this second loss in as many games raises questions on whether the team will be able to turn things around to make a strong playoff bid, while OG march ahead 2-0 with victories over two of the teams considered to be their direct rivals at the beginning of the tournament, Virtus.pro and G2.

"We cut some of our summer break down to get some good practice in but I feel like we didn’t have the best practice," Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen said of the team’s return to activity.

"We had a lot of fun during these weeks of preparation, but it wasn’t necessarily the most focused because we were just coming out of the break, right? But I guess it’s just because we have a good feeling and everyone is having fun that we’re playing this good right now."

mantuu and company are now 2-0 in Group B

The series began on OG’s Mirage, where they took the first pistol round on the attack, but G2 stopped a B play in the forcebuy to keep things even from the start. Aleksib and his men charged ahead early on, but G2 stopped the assault with Nikola "NiKo" Kovač at the helm to lead 9-6 before the switch.

After the half it was all OG, who on the defense nullified G2’s offensive giving up just one round while tallying ten of their own to win the map 16-10.

G2 regained their footing on Inferno, taking the first four rounds as terrorists, but the second OG got their hands on guns the dynamic changed drastically as Shahar "flameZ" Shushan and company went on to dominate the half from there on out giving up a solitary round on the way to a 10-5 scoreline.

The second half was no better for G2, who started to see the match slip away after losing their third pistol round in the series. From there on out OG didn’t lift their foot from the gas pedal winning every round to a 16-5 victory.

Im thinking they are struggling to readjust to online. OG sucked on LAN, but look like online gods and i think Sinners have only been grinding online matches for the past year or two

No, their problem is entirely on the structure of calling. They have very limited calling and it's quite obvious that they lack a proper caller that can actually readjust inside the server. If the plans don't work out their only chance of winning is that someone is having a good day. Really, take a look at it. It hurts to see their awful calling.

they need a roster change since they announced niko as the main awper, and then suddenly was amanek the main one. like they cant have both amanek and jackz in the team, they need to sacrifice one and get a main strong awper.

Said it before player break (when they actually maybe could get some players). This current roster is SUPERfluke as #3 and won't achieve much against top teams in next half of the year. Either get rid of Amanek or jakz (ideally both). I mean... do you really need to pretend it's french team, or what?

Jackz has one of the best entry success rates in the game. If he gets an opening kill, they most likely win the round. Amanek isn’t a primary AWPer that’s being used as one because Niko thought he could do it all. They need a better IGL, maybe one that can AWP so Amanek can go back to doing more support work.

G2's first problem is not having an awper,Amanek can't be one. Their second problem is that they're an international team but with only 2 nations, internal problems are inevitable in such teams.

OG forze sinners will make it through. Maybe G2 can comeback and replace forze for 3rd spot. No chance for vp & complexity. But yeah, g2 look hot garbage so far. Nexa's igl-ing has been mediocre so far. Amanek getting worst and worst as a fake awper. Rip.

Ofc everyone is hating on NiKo once again. The guy literally went 1.34 rating and hunter went around 1.2. idfk what you want from the guy he's doing what he's meant to do yet his team can't perform after he falls. Nexa, Amanek are the biggest problems. Jackz is aight he hits shots gets 2 deags every now n then but nexa's calling and Amanek's awp oh my... It's safe to say a lvl5 faceit is a better awper than Amanek

Man what's going on G2? Honestly I watched this game and it looked like they are playing together for the 1st time, like literally, there semt to be no chemistry and no plan in what they were doing, it was so... Individual? OG on the other hand, I will repeat it, I think they are a really good team that can go really far in this season. That's my opinion. And G2 just kind of dissapointed me, it looked like they don't care honestly.
