NIP extend contract with REZ: "He is about to enter the prime time of his career"

The longest-standing member of the Ninjas has committed the next four years to the organization.

Fredrik "REZ" Sterner has signed a four-year extension on his contract with Ninjas in Pyjamas, the Swedish organization announced on Friday. The news was released shortly after Ninjas in Pyjamas's 2-0 win over TeamOne in ESL Pro League, which REZ secured with a 1v4 clutch in the final round.

The 23-year-old has already spent four years in Ninjas in Pyjamas, joining the organization in 2017 and making his debut alongside the team's iconic duo in Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg and Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund. With the contract extension, REZ is tied to Ninjas in Pyjamas until 2025.

REZ has been a standout player for NIP this year

"I'm motivated — it feels great to have signed for another four years with NIP. Back when I joined the organisation I was just a n00b, with a lot of experienced people around me," REZ said in the announcement. With the old legends long gone and Ninjas in Pyjamas finalizing its transitional period, the 23-year-old seems set on taking more of a veteran role within the team: "Now I'm the one bringing wisdom, while I click heads better than ever before. Damn it feels good to be a Ninja."

REZ has averaged a 1.10 rating over the last three months, making him the team' second star alongside Nicolai "device" Reedtz (1.11 rating), and Ninjas in Pyjamas are betting on him only getting better.

"Fredrik is about to enter the prime time of his career, and I'm thrilled that he's trusted us with another four years," Ninjas in Pyjamas's Chief Operating Officer Jonas Gundersen added. "Seeing his development for the past years, while already being an incredibly skilled and impactful player, has been great. I'm sure there's much more to come from him — he'll play a pivotal part in taking home an abundance of trophies with the team."

Ninjas in Pyjamas have the following roster:

Sweden Fredrik "REZ" Sterner
Sweden Nicolas "Plopski" Gonzalez Zamora
Sweden Hampus "hampus" Poser
Sweden Linus "LNZ" Holtäng
Denmark Nicolai "device" Reedtz

Sweden Björn "THREAT" Pers (Coach)

"he is about to enter his prime" looking at his performances i would say that he is already past his prime, His performances have been so sloppy and inconsistent over the past 1 1/2 years since NIP restructured their squad

REZ has always been inconsistent, but he's been, by far, the standout player for NiP in the timeframe you're talking about. If he stops blowing hot and cold he's easily one of the better riflers out there.

Exactly, I don't think he's about to enter his prime, this isn't football, where most players peak around the age of 26-31. Most people would say that a 27 year old CS player is near the end of his career.

Yeah but 27y is the last year of his new deal. They're count on him at the peek 2022/23. It would be 24/25y that would be normal. 18-20y is just skills, when you get expirience is when u can performe the best of yours hability

Yeah like I care about hltv rumors.. They say "dupreeh is joining nip" because, get this.. Him and device are friends haha! Ask some questions before you decide if this is realistic. Would xypex be willing to move to Sweden? Would xypex be willing to learn Swedish? Would nip be patience and wait for him to learn? Does nip want xypex? Does xypex want to join nip? Is nip willing to pay astralis big money for a player who is past his prime when the whole idea behind their roster is to build the next generation of Swedish cs players?

I can't answer these questions but it is obvious that NiP need results (that's why you sign device and spend millions of $$$) and you will never get good results with young unexperienced player who is barely over 0.9 rating. That's why they need to get someone decent, even f0rest could be good but he doesn't want to play tier1 anymore. LNZ is not a decision even he is free to get

What in the fuck do you mean by "even forest"?? He is still a fucking beast man, they would be lucky to have him. Of fucking course he wants to play T1! My guess is that he left nip because he just didnt feel like he would fit and enyoy himself as much when the team became like all 16-23 year olds. As for nip, they got to the final of a tournament and played great even with a bot, so theoretically they could win an event win lnz since he is better. I say they need a passive lurk player, just like olof but obviously not olof because nip aint signing a 29yo and you know that. But a player like olof.

Dumb move. Just proves he's a paycheck stealer. If he really wanted to show that he's committed becoming a top 20 player, he would keep other options available incase he gets into a better team that could actually win trophies. Now he will be stuck in NIP with a huge buyout and he has to play with ecolai who's got severe anger issues
