ESL Pro League Season 14Liquid sweep Entropiq to secure second win at EPL
Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's men bounced back after a heartbreaking loss against Gambit yesterday.
Liquid took their second win in Group D at ESL Pro League Season 14 after a 2-0 victory against Entropiq.
"I wasn't pretty, but we got it done," said the Brazilian IGL in regards to the series, which saw the North Americans stop the Russian squad's momentum and come back on both Vertigo and Overpass. "It felt good to win the match, it was a hard-earned victory."
The victory sees Liquid claim joint-second place alongside Ninjas in Pyjamas with a 2-1 record so far, with two matches still left to play against the two Brazilian teams of the group, TeamOne and FURIA.
Entropiq made their presence known on their map pick of Vertigo, winning the first pistol round and keeping Liquid's economy in check on their way to an 8-3 lead. Vladislav "Krad" Kravchenko impressed on the T side, constantly causing trouble in middle. Not planning to give up without a fight, an inspired performance by Keith "NAF" Markovic powered a North American comeback which cut the deficit 7-8.
The second half saw the Russians temporarily retake control of the game, but once the full buys started coming out from the offensive side there was little competition. Liquid cruised through their T side, winning seven rounds in a row on their way to securing the first map 16-12.
Overpass saw a very competitive start to the first half, with Entropiq being put temporarily in the back foot following an initial Liquid advance on their offensive. Once the Russians were able to settle their CT side and bring out the double AWP setup, the game took a turn in their favour, closing the half 9-6.
In similar fashion to the first half, the offensive side saw temporary success before the defence was able to settle and snowball their advantage. Aleksei "NickelBack" Trofimov's men successfully extended their lead 12-7 before Michael "Grim" Wince and NAF transformed the B bombsite into a fortress. Liquid retook the lead at 13-12 and did not take their foot off the pedal, clinching Overpass 16-12 and the series 2-0.
