Endpoint set to use mirbit at IEM Fall
The German journeyman is traveling to Sweden to play the LAN event.
Endpoint have announced on Wednesday that German player Sabit "mirbit" Coktasar will be standing-in for the the team during IEM Fall in loan deal from Nordavind. The British side will still suffer a 20% deduction to any points they earn at the Regional Major Ranking tournament but will have much better odds at placing highly, as they won't need to use their coach, Allan "Allan" Hender.
The loan deal comes after the announcement on Tuesday that Endpoint member Mohammad "BOROS" Malhas would be unable to travel with the team to Sweden, as his visa had not been processed in time. Originally, the team would have been forced to play with their new coach, Allan.
Later on Tuesdsay however, ESL sent an email out to participants in IEM Fall that said they would have until the start of their region's division of IEM Fall to submit an additional substitute player that could be used during the event. ESL had initially only collected a single individual to act as a substitute or coach for each team.
The change brings the tournament back into compliance with Valve's new ruleset for the 2021 RMR cycle, which added an additional spot for substitutes that teams could register alongside their five players and coach. Since the email was sent out, teams in the Oceanic, CIS, and Europe divisions had under 24 hours to find an additional player if they wished to take advantage of the rule. The only stipulation to who could be chosen is that the individual had not played in any stage or qualifier for the fall series of RMR events.
A benefit of the new ruleset is also that should BOROS' visa be accepted and he is able to travel to the tournament, he would be able to return to the lineup during the tournament without inducing any additional deductions for the team.
Endpoint feature in a group alongside HEROIC, Astralis, Complexity, SINNERS, and Movistar Riders. In order to have a chance at qualifying for the PGL Stockholm Major, the British team would need to place in the top eight of the tournament. Their first match will be on Wednesday against Astralis.
Endpoint's lineup for IEM Fall:
Kia "Surreal" Man
Joey "CRUC1AL" Steusel
Max "MiGHTYMAX" Heath
Thomas "Thomas" Utting
Sabit "mirbit" Coktasar (substitute)
Allan "Allan" Hender (coach)
Mohammad "BOROS" Malhas (visa issues)
Several other teams have added substitutes to their lineups at the last minute, with some of the most notable being Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov to Natus Vincere's, Kenny "kennyS" Schrub to G2's, Victor "vigg0" Bisgaard to Astralis', and Peppe "Peppzor" Borak to fnatic's, but there is no reason to believe that these are anything more than precautionary additions.
