FURIA through to PGL Major Stockholm; final day of IEM Fall NA group stage wide open

Seven different teams can still make it through to playoffs.

The second day of IEM Fall North America has come to a close, seeing both Liquid and FURIA secure themselves spots at the PGL Stockholm Major after they held on to their undefeated records to sit atop their groups.

Although both teams have one match remaining, they cannot be dethroned from the top of their groups, and the results of their remaining matches would only influence the ability for other teams to qualify; additionally, Liquid have guaranteed themselves a Legends spot, whereas FURIA's final status is still up in the air depending on other results.

Still though, a majority of teams remain in contention to secure a playoff berth heading into the final day, and nine of the ten teams are still in with a shot to make the PGL Stockholm Major — albeit some with a slim to none chance.

In Group A, paiN are the most likely team to finish in second place should no upsets occur, assuming that they beat ATK in their final match and Liquid come out on top over Extra Salt.

A loss to ATK could throw a wrench in paiN's plans as it could result in a handful of possible tiebreaker scenarios for second or third place, but the Brazilian team's win over Bad News Bears has put them in a solid position heading into the final day.

EXTREMUM, meanwhile, kept their hopes of earning RMR points alive after dominating Extra Salt in their second match of the day. Aaron "⁠AZR⁠" Ward's troops will take on Bad News Bears in their final match of the group stage, where a win for either team is crucial if they hope to make a bid for RMR points.

In Group B, the match between GODSENT and Triumph will determine who finishes in second place, as long as FURIA also prevail over Evil Geniuses. However, Peter "⁠stanislaw⁠" Jarguz's troops are still in with a shot to finish among the top three, and could even enter a tiebreaker for second place should they beat FURIA, and Triumph upsets GODSENT.
