JW released from fnatic: "It is time for me to start writing the next chapter"
One of the most iconic players to wear the black and orange jersey has departed the organization.
Jesper "JW" Wecksell has officially entered free agency, having been released from his contract with fnatic following three months on the bench. The three-time Major winner spent nearly eight years with the organization, practically his whole CS:GO career, but will now be looking for new opportunities.
"I will work hard on my game, try to stream some, and try to play in as many qualifiers as possible until I know what is next for me," JW wrote on Twitlonger, hinting at more Counter-Strike action, but leaving the doors open for a change of scenery.
"In the end, it's been one hell of a ride but nothing lasts forever - and it is time for me to start writing the next chapter."

During his tenure in fnatic which lasted from 2013 to 2021 — aside from a six-month stint in GODSENT —, JW won three Major tournaments, placed on the ranking of the top 20 players of the year three times, secured three MVPs, and claimed trophies at a total of 22 notable LAN events.
"A pretty emotional but also pretty exciting day," JW said on Thursday as he left fnatic in the past, thanking "everyone who has been a part of the journey". He gave special credit to current fnatic CGO Patrik "cArn" Sättermon, as well as the trio of his initial teammates Andreas "znajder" Lindberg, Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg, and Robin "flusha" Rönnquist: "That friendship is something I will always remember and I'm sad I didn't care about it more some times."
A chance to rekindle the friendship with flusha might be on the cards for JW, as the 26-year-old has been signed up for the IEM Winter Open Qualifier #2 with GORILLAZ who have seemingly concluded their cooperation with Kevin "HS" Tarn.
Meanwhile, fnatic are searching for an AWPer to take over the role in the team after the benchings of both JW and Jack "Jackinho" Ström Mattsson in the last three months. Following a short stint with Owen "smooya" Butterfield, the organization decided to give an opportunity to fnatic Rising sniper Iulian "regali" Harjău to play with the main team.
fnatic are now playing with the following lineup:
Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson
Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin
Alex "ALEX" McMeekin
William "mezii" Merriman
Iulian "regali" Harjău (stand-in)
Jamie "keita" Hall (coach)
Maikil "Golden" Selim (benched)
Andreas 'znajder' Lindberg

Francisco 'kst' Fragoso
Matias 'Banjo' Kivistö
