BERRY joins Sprout: "I have been waiting for an opportunity to start coaching for some time"

The Danish veteran transitions from an in-game leader role to coaching as he joins the German organization.

Sprout have unveiled their new head coach on Saturday, signing 31-year-old Danny "⁠BERRY⁠" Krüger whose playing career dates back to 2009. The Dane will be at the helm of Sprout's new project which is expected to take an international direction.

BERRY leaves Denmark to take on a new role

Despite BERRY's limited individual success as a player — his highest world ranking achieved being No. 56 —, he is considered a crucial part of the Danish scene. As a leader of squads in the Danish sub-top, he led with the likes of Johannes "⁠b0RUP⁠" Borup and Daniel "⁠mertz⁠" Mertz before their breakthroughs, and was also a teammate of many well known Danish players such as Lukas "⁠gla1ve⁠" Rossander, Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller, and Marco "⁠Snappi⁠" Pfeiffer.

enkay J departs Sprout after two years

BERRY joins Sprout after they parted ways with their former coach Niclas "⁠enkay J⁠" Krumhorn and player Marko "⁠kressy⁠" Đorđević, seeing them go down to four players and saw the IGL responsibilities to Rasmus "⁠raalz⁠" Steensborg. Rumors have linked the German organization with more international players, with the decision on who to sign surely being a part of BERRY's new job.

"I'm happy to announce that I will be joining Sprout and starting my journey as head coach. I'm thankful for the trust from the team and the organization, even though I'm fairly new to this field," BERRY wrote in a statement regarding his signing.

"It's a very exciting moment for me, and I have been waiting for an opportunity to start coaching for some time. I feel like Sprout is the right place for me, I see a lot of potential in this team and I will be working very hard to get Sprout to where they belong."

That's actually great. Sprout has a few really good players. Berry's probably gonna be able to bring out the best in Sprout. All the best!

Good decision for him, I doubt he could've made any success in his playing career, but now, with Sprout, as a head coach, I think he can make it work, GL BERRY!
