The young Swedish AWPer finds himself looking for a new home shortly after his recent benching.

It was announced today that, after just under a year with the team, Jack "⁠Jackinho⁠" Ström Mattsson is being released by fnatic. The news comes mere months after his benching in favour of Owen "⁠smooya⁠" Butterfield. This move will be a surprise to few, considering the immense upswing in results that the team have experienced since Jackinho's removal from the active line-up.

During his tenure with fnatic they had slowly slipped down the world rankings to hover around the top-30, and achieved little of note. Their best finish with him in the squad was at his very first event, cs_summit 7, where amongst a solid field they achieved a top-two finish behind Virtus.pro.

Jackinho struggled to adapt to tier-one Counter-Strike

Individually the 22-year-old AWPer rarely shone, posting a sub 1.00 HLTV rating at seven of the 12 events he played with the team, with his better performances coming in events with weaker fields, such as Snow Sweet Snow 3.

Yeah after they had much more practice with the new roster Smooya was much better but jackinho was fine considering the shitshow he was in most of the time

They already improved when they got Mezzi and Alex, obviously smooya is far better than him, but I still think he was weighed down by jw golden and a underperforming Krimz for the most time

I can’t name you singular misplays but he was often caught off guard and missed some sitters that he should normally get every time. Rewatch some of the matches in the Recent Dreamhack open Fnatic won if you’re really interested

Nah but that was my point jackinhos mistakes were so bad you remember them. I remember the shot he missed on nuke when he was behind a guy and missed his shot and the guy turns around and kills him. I also remember him dying to an eco rush with no kills at all on inferno banana. He could’ve just been nervous though which makes sense he’s pretty young after all.

I think it’s a shame, he was thrust into t1 tournaments straight after a rebuild. Never given the chance to grind t2 cs and grow as a team. Hope he finds success elsewhere

From the start he was only good at "train", he had some beast performances on that map (never saw anything special on any other map before joining fnatic), then he got added straight after (my memory could be failing a bit here) train was removed from the map pool. Pretty wierd if u ask me. Must've been Brollan pushing for the sign to happen.

He looked promising at the start and had insanely quick reactions (check out Launders video on him) but seemed to have got stuck as the pressure mounted on fnatic - too much expectation for a newbie. He came into a dying team. I think if he joins a solid t2 team he should have a chance to build his style and confidence and get back to t1 soon.

To be fair, he was slotted as an AWPer but JW took it from him, then after so many months they gave him his role back. You can't expect it to go well especially since that team was very inconsistent.

Understandable but I think ppl underrated him a little bit, he was decent imo., he was just not ready for this kind of pressure yet, I feel like he will join a smaller team and be good player there, he plays for the team which is already a good start, and he just needs more experience, I think this hate on him is unjustified, I think he will be a good player in the future.
