Extra Salt in talks to sign junior - Report

As the North American shuffle looms, Extra Salt look to keep their position within the scene.

Extra Salt are in talks with Paytyn "⁠junior⁠" Johnson about acquiring him from FURIA, according to a report from Dust2.us. junior has been playing with Bad News Bears on loan since his benching from the Brazilian team in June.

The report lines up with another from 1pv.fr that stated Liquid are close to finalizing the signing of Josh "⁠oSee⁠" Ohm, which would leave Extra Salt without their star AWPer.

One American AWPer for another

junior and oSee have been two of the most talked about North American prospect players in the past two years, with junior first making a name for himself with Triumph before being picked up by FURIA. The majority Brazilian squad didn't find much success with the American player however, and eventually junior found himself benched in favor of a Portuguese-speaking player.

The 21-year-old continued to compete afterwards with organization-less team Bad News Bears after Peter "⁠ptr⁠" Gurney retired from play. With BNB, junior played in ESL Pro League Season 14, won Fragadelphia 15, and came 7th-8th at IEM Fall. During this time, he has been the highest rated player on Bad News Bears by far, sporting a 1.30 rating in the past three months.

According to the report, there may still be changes in the Extra Salt camp following the departure of oSee, but nothing definitive has been reported yet.

If the move comes to fruition this would be Extra Salt's lineup:

anyone with a brain saw he wasn't in a playtime he enjoyed. had to give up way too much space for arT, and was usually bait for KSCERATO and Yuurih. When he was actually playing decent in his role he looked good.

If look at Furia interviews at the time you would know that Art and Guerri tried everything they could to make him confortable in the team, it just didnt work

OSee has more experience and Junior did kinda bad in furia so it's a bit safer to pay extra for OSee than gamble for Junior. I still think Junior is good but liquid are looking for the most stable roster and Junior hasn't proven that he was good enough to get a spot on liquid.

Junior is a bit more passive and need a little bit more micromanagement. But his time in furia doesn't really show his real potential.

I don't know about that junior is very good but oSee is a level higher imo and, probably, has much more synergy with the team than junior will, just on the basis that he's such an agreeable guy and has been with that roster for so long.

OSEE is not very unstable, and when he hits 35-17 stats at the end you may not remember his frags at all, because he are made on eco or Exit frags.

then his impact wouldn't be as high as it is. He has a 1.30 impact rating over the past 6 months and 1.26 impact against top 30 teams.

well, at least with floppy they play better than with sonic, it is noticeable in their results. they play better than they did six months ago, although they sometimes lose maps. their problem is lose sometimes in grandfinals, but with another they have no problems
