BIG sign faveN in transfer of "unprecedented size in German CS"

Josef "⁠faveN⁠" Baumann makes the move up in the latest from a long history of moves between Sprout and BIG.

BIG have completed the signing of faveN and moved Nicklas "⁠gade⁠" Gade to the bench to make space for the new addition, the German organization has announced. The 21-year-old joins the team from Sprout in a transfer BIG claim to be of unprecedented size as the most expensive deal for a German player in Counter-Strike history.

His addition comes as the latest in a long line of player moves between two of the western European country's biggest organizations, following in the footsteps of the likes of coaches Niclas "⁠enkay J⁠" Krumhorn and Tobias "⁠tow b⁠" Herberhold as well as Florian "⁠syrsoN⁠" Rische and Nils "⁠k1to⁠" Gruhne.

Boasting some very impressive numbers over a three-year tenure with Sprout and averaging a 1.18 rating in 2021 in his best year individually since he burst onto the scene, faveN had been tipped to get the call up for some time.

He now joins BIG at a time when the team has been unable to improve their results following the signing of gade, who joined the squad during the summer off-season to fill the void left by the departure of Ismailcan "⁠XANTARES⁠" Dörtkardeş to Eternal Fire.

They have been struggling to contend for deep runs at the biggest events in the latter half of the season with the Dane, most recently placing 9th-12th at IEM Winter and 7th-8th at BLAST Premier Fall Final, with a runner-up finish at DreamHack Open November being a highlight of an otherwise unimpressive resumé as of late.

With the new boost in firepower, BIG will be hoping to regain the lost ground and return to the kind of form that had seen them compete for titles in 2020.

I think the deal with Gade was always until end of the yer (at least over major) unless great results of course. Maybe because Sprout also thought that they could make to the major and didn't want to give their best player because of that.

JDC would look just as bad as k1to in the same role, this would be a career killer one of BIGs greatest problems IMO is that they dont utilize k1to correctly, his mechanics are great but on t side they just use him to trade into sites basically

Not since (and during) major, gade was not impactful. Also, there is a difference between speaking a bit German and been a native. Finally, gade was not playing support, at least, not like tizian usually do. That's why I said gade = tizian. Gade with less favorable spot would have a lower rating, similar to tizian.

I don't know, to me tiziaN seems really underwhelming, maybe not as a support but more as a firepower, you know you still need your support to do something, and faveN will bring good firepower with him, but with k1to and syrsoN being so inconsistent I think having someone fragging more consistently than tiziaN would be great for BIG.

Gade, being foreigner in an otherwise national team, has probably seen this coming. Foreigners are the first to be cut, if they aren't playing much better than the rest of the team. Culture & language has a bigger impact than most people realize. And as CSGO has become a game of precision, even the minuscule mistakes are under scrutiny. Good luck Gade, get your ass back to a danish team, aim a bit lower, and rise again.

I get the feeling Gade is overthinking to a degree where he's constantly surprised by the enemies, he need to play off of his experience and just click heads.

Valde have also the same tendency of Overthinking. A player like xantares will play more with intuitions.

I understand the culture clash and all, but I think gade deserved a better chance. Most of the players are really questionable in regards to pulling their weight. It really doesn't look good when your fucking igl looks like the only capable fragger on the team. The team has a whole lot of other issues and this move won't bring them more than a top 5 placing. I'd kinda like to see -TeSeS +gade, take some of the igl pressure off of cadiaN to focus more on awping and get rid of the one underwhelming piece I see in Heroic.

Good move to have a full German lineup but not sure this really helps in any way with the fact the team is wildly inconsistent. Gage wasn’t even the problem in the first place.

The problem was, Gade played a lot of the old Roles from Xantares and still couldn't manage to get a 1.0+ Rating. Same time, kito and tizian played complete bitch roles and had the same ratings.

Better move when they added Gabe but still wont be enough to replace Xantares, this team is dead lets be honest and it feels bad because I like Tabsen I would've loved to see him move to G2 as IGL, but lets see how it goes Tabsen is always good,Faven was solid in t2 now do we get Syrson of first half of 2021 where he was a top 5 awper or second half where he was really bad, I dont expect anything from k1to and tizian they're pure trash. Maybe this team can be around top 15 but I cant see them higher.

The problem.in big is tizian and kito... xantares was the nr 1.top.fragger 2 tabsen 3.syrson.. they just Needed 2 players instead tizian and.kito... but look.what happened xantares was done with kito and tizian he told it to tabsen many times that they need to change team but nobody listened him.. look xantares is gone big is not in top.10 anymore no 1 tournamenst have wonn..they lose alot matches.. xantares is in eternal fire he made the team just in 2 months from rank 100 to rank 26.. and they won 1 tournament.. he have now 1.28 rating..
