The Ukranian finds a new home after having spent almost four years with Spirit.

UPDATE: Justinas "⁠jL⁠" Lekavicius provided further information regarding the 2022 roster via his Twitter account, stating that he will be fulfilling the AWP role for the squad.

Viktor "⁠sdy⁠" Orudzhev has been signed as the final player for the 2022 MAD Lions roster, the organisation announced via their Twitter account. He joins other new addition Michał "⁠MICHU⁠" Müller, whose signing was confirmed a mere day prior.

The news comes a couple weeks after MAD Lions benched Volodymyr "⁠Woro2k⁠" Veletniuk and Pere "⁠sausol⁠" Solsona Saumell, moves that came as something of a surprise considering the squad had impressed throughout 2021, picking up several notable scalps including that of OG and MOUZ.

sdy joins the team with plenty of experience under his belt

The Woro2k benching in particular seemed counter-intuitive, as the AWPer had posted a team-leading rating of 1.16 over the past 12 months.

sdy was only recently benched after an almost four-year stint with Spirit, having experienced a somewhat mixed 2021. The team began the year with impressive results, including a victory at DreamHack Open January and a top-four at the stacked IEM Katowice event, but they stagnated and then fell off as time went on, culminating in a disappointing failure to progress past the Challengers Stage of the PGL Major Stockholm.

Yes, but TMB was given the opportunity to AWP when this team was formed but didn't want to. jL also AWPed before joining MAD Lions and has been second-AWPing this team since it formed. I'm guessing he will be doing it unless TMB has changed his mind.

TMB and jL were both AWPers before they joined mad lions

now that you mention, I recall seeing JL secondary AWP while woro was still around and he looked ok. wouldn't be surprised if it falls to him then EDIT: actually yeah this is totally the team where they just signed a bunch of talented players, almost all of which had primary AWP experience (before these recent changes anyway)
