The 25-year-old makes his return to the king of shooters after a year in VALORANT.

Evil Geniuses have officially announced the much anticipated signing of Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta, who is teaming back up with Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip and, reportedly although not yet official, William "⁠RUSH⁠" Wierzba, reuniting the Cloud9 trio that won the ELEAGUE Boston Major.

This signing marks autimatic's return to CS:GO following a year in VALORANT, which he decided to try out after unsuccessful stints in Cloud9's post-Major winning roster, which went through a litany of fruitless lineups, and Gen.G's short-lived foray into Counter-Strike.

autimatic is one of the high-profile players returning to CS:GO

Before making the switch to Riot's FPS game, autimatic was one of the most decorated North American players in CS:GO, with an MVP award from his ESL Pro League Season 4 championship run with Cloud9, as well as the aforementioned Major trophy and victories at DreamHack Open Denver 2017 and iBUYPOWER Masters 2017. Individually, he was named the 17th best player in the world in 2018.

autimatic will join not only his two former teammates, but also Evil Geniuses' only two members left standing from the previous roster, Vincent "⁠Brehze⁠" Cayonte and Tsvetelin "⁠CeRq⁠" Dimitrov, as well as the team's new skipper, Damien "⁠maLeK⁠" Marcel.

Known as a hybrid player during the years before he switched to VALORANT, autimatic will not have to worry with AWPing duties this time around — at least not primarily — as it will be in the hands of his Bulgarian teammate CeRq, and in-game leadership has fallen in Stewie2K's hands, so the 25-year-old will be able to put his full focus on getting back up to speed with how the game has changed in his absence.

These nostalgia tinged high-profile signings are Evil Geniuses' bid to help revive the North American scene while trying to bring the organization back to the top echelons of the game after a vastly underwhelming 2021, a year in which the team went from being a top 10 contender to sitting well outside of the top 30 and included an embarrassing 0-3 showing at the PGL Major in Stockholm.

Smack talk is fine, but so many players seems to have no clue how to do it properly. Look at the master of the art, JW or Taz for example. It has to be done in a way that you can tell there is some tongue in cheek (no ill intent). While you have the new schoolers like Stew or K0nfig that have no feeling and just come across as cringy jerks with banter of the level “but you mum is uglier”. It’s sad.

Fair enough. I’m probably to old for this childish no class “smack talk” of some younger players. When you are used to the masters of smack like JW and Taz it’s hard to appreciate this cringy version. His hate is probably from several reasons, one being the one I held above. Another could be that he is generally not playing at a very high level but still talks/act like he is simple. And an other could be his smoke pushing play style. I can see why ppl dislike that since it’s very luck based and just a straight up guess (however educated) and sort of undeserved when it works tbh. It can also cause hate from fans when it repeatedly fails and loses the team rounds.

eg consists of 3 major winner (one of which is an intel grand slam winner as well) and 2 players who were top 1 at a point and were dominating on LAN a couple years ago. i just checked tabsens profile and saw that he apparently has only 4 trophies and most of them are irrelevant tier 2 events and most importantly, online events. i think its pretty obvious which team will be better in 3-6 months

Ok good point, but eg doesnt look bad at all, you are over hating the roster. Stewie is a good player he isnt washed yet, maybe not prime level anymore but he is still a tier1 player, if you say otherwise you are just a hater. Brehze and cerq once were the deadliest combo in EG, it all fell apart when Tarik and Ethan left, with new changes it is not hard to see there is a chance for them to perform again with new changes. The only two controversial players is Rush and Autimatic. Heres the thing, Rush is one of those players who isnt a high chance frag player but he makes up for it for his great support, going for entry plays, great utility (much important than you think), and keeping a team working like a team, kinda like stewie but a much better support. Now for autimatic, its either he will perform good or bad, its not a high chance he will be garbage just because he was away for some period since he occasionally play fpl. He always was a great player, so its ok to believe in him. Not the best roster, thats not what i am saying, but still able to perform high, so i don’t understand the hate. Also for BIG, the biggest mistake ever was to let xantares go, these recent changes are bad

i can almost agree with everything you said, what makes me sceptical about this roster is, that there are too many IFs. with stewie, cerq and brehze you have three players that once were amazing individually but recently reached their lowest point of their career with rush you have a solid support player but if worst case none of the three aforementioned players perform individually then you cannot count on rush to step up funnily enough autimatic is the only player i dont really worry about, even though he's switching between games it could work if all the stars align but right now i dont see a reason to believe it, thats all i'm saying --- to briefly touch on BIG: -xantares +gade was bad, true, but with faven they got a huge firepower upgrade again. IMO losing coach tow b was BIGs biggest problem, we'll see if their new coaching+analyst team can keep it up
