Twistzz: "I felt that jks' time on Complexity was an inaccurate representation of what he can do"

The Canadian rifler was key in influencing FaZe to pick Justin "⁠jks⁠" Savage as their substitute for IEM Katowice.

Russel "⁠Twistzz⁠" Van Dulken and Robin "⁠ropz⁠" Kool joined a special edition of the HLTV Confirmed show on Sunday to share their thoughts on FaZe's recent win at IEM Katowice, with the second half of the show featuring discussion about recent news and some more general topics as the panel watched a handful of Europe RMR open qualifier matches with the two players.

The pair of FaZe riflers also talked about playing with jks in Poland after he stepped in last-minute for ropz and Håvard "⁠rain⁠" Nygaard, as well as how that move even came to fruition, with Twistzz particularly having a strong voice in the team to influence picking the Australian player as their substitute.

"I really had to convince RobbaN and Finn [karrigan] that he [jks] was still the best fit for the team," the Canadian rifler explained. "They wanted to take one of the Danish players that were still playing the game, like Bubzkji, and there's one more name, but I really had to convince them that jks was still the best option.

"I didn't care that he didn't play the game for two months, and I actually felt that his time on Complexity was an inaccurate representation of what he can do as a player, I think the system that Complexity had was just bad for him, so I really wanted him to have a chance in our team."

Twistzz also praised jks' work ethic when it came to filling in last minute. "He did the most that he could. I sat next to him in the practice room and he was watching ten demos a night, constantly in the server getting used to the positions that rain plays on CT side. He was even spectating our scrims that we were still playing with rain, spectating him the whole time just seeing what he does.

"As a team, we did the most that we could, and I think for jks himself, he did more than he could, he put more than 100% effort into the game to make sure he could fill the void that rain was leaving."

The unexpected tournament victory and finding immediate success on FaZe is also a marked improvement for ropz, who had been laboring away on MOUZ for a year since Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen's departure, unable to elevate the team to any notable level of success.

When asked by Zvonimir "⁠Professeur⁠" Burazin whether playing on that lineup killed his motivation at all, ropz responded by saying he had known he would not remain with MOUZ for a number of months, expecting to depart the team ever since that iteration of the lineup was put together; however, he also stated that he was always putting work in with the team, and that he was now more motivated than ever to take home titles on FaZe.

"We all know there are going to be some tough matches in the future," the 22-year-old Estonian said. "We're going to lose, that's inevitable right?

"We all know that we need to learn from those matches, we're not going to always win like we do now — I have a 100% winrate in FaZe, which is insane —, we will lose some important matches in the upcoming months, but it's key that we keep believing and building the structure that we have. If we just continue to playing and practicing the way that we have, I think there's no limit for this team."
