AMANEK to stand in for Aleksib in ESL Pro League kick-off

The Finnish in-game leader has tested positive for COVID and will miss the beginning of the event.

G2 have announced that François "⁠amanek⁠" Delaunay will stand in for Aleksi "⁠Aleksib⁠" Virolainen in ESL Pro League S15 after the Finn produced a positive COVID test. The Frenchman will play for the team until the in-game leader tests negative and is able to travel to Düsseldorf, where the event is taking place.

Aleksib has shared that he fell sick following his return from IEM Katowice but has now recovered from the illness and awaits a negative test to be able to join the team in Germany.

The news comes on the day before the European squad kick off their campaign in the tournament, having been seeded into Group A alongside Ninjas in Pyjamas, Entropiq, fnatic, MOUZ, and Looking For Org.

Aleksib sits out the beginning of Pro League due to a positive COVID test

In their opening match in the round robin taking place on Wednesday at 12:30 , G2 will face the Australian side around Mike "⁠ap0c⁠" Aliferis, the group's lowest-ranked team and biggest underdog.

amanek has been out of action for nearly three months following his benching from G2. He has been put on standby in recent times, however, as he joined the team at IEM Katowice in case one of the players was sidelined and stood behind them when Rémy "⁠XTQZZZ⁠" Quoniam was struck by COVID before the playoffs.

For the time being, G2 will compete in ESL Pro League Season 15 with the following lineup:
