FaZe oust Vitality from playoffs contention after landslide victory

Only FaZe and Outsiders remain in contention for the final Group B playoffs spot heading into round five.

FaZe have secured their second win in the Group B round robin after hammering Vitality 2-0 (Mirage 16-10, Dust2 16-2), keeping their hopes of playoffs alive as they head into the final round of play, in which they'll face the so far undefeated FURIA.

The French-Danish side is now out of contention for a spot in the bracket stage, as even though they can enter a tiebreaking scenario for third place, they come out on the losing side no matter what happens. Vitality can only play spoiler to Outsiders in the final match, as that and the match between FaZe and FURIA will determine who goes through to the playoffs in the third spot.

At the very least, FaZe need Outsiders to lose the final match and preferably win theirs against the Brazilian side in order to avoid ties with Dzhami "⁠Jame⁠" Ali & co. that could see the European squad eliminated.

A team effort sees FaZe keep their playoffs hopes alive

Mirage spelled a fruitful start for FaZe to the series. It had been an obvious pick for the Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen-led side, as Vitality had yet to pick up a win on the map with their new lineup, and they took full advantage of the weak point as they secured the first map without too much trouble.

The only man standing in their way seemed to be Mathieu "⁠ZywOo⁠" Herbaut, who stepped things up from a worrying series performance against FURIA, but despite the French superstar's heroic effort Vitality could not match up to a FaZe side who had all of their players online and managed to turn around several disadvantageous situations.

Things went from bad to worse for Vitality when the series turned to Dust2. A disastrous anti-eco loss on short meant their T side would never get off the ground, while it gave FaZe the opportunity to get double AWPs early and rain terror on the Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire-led team, with Robin "⁠ropz⁠" Kool the more active of the two big green holders rather than Helvijs "⁠broky⁠" Saukants. A 13-2 defensive half allowed FaZe to assert their dominance going into the second half, where the series came to a close just three rounds in.

This might be true but the ones not performing are the Frenchmans, zywoo had a few bad games in IEM but sooner or later he will start playing with his old form, just like Niko. While apex and misutaa are far from actually being good players.

It's easy with hindsight as of right now to look back and say this, but if you are Vitality CEO and you see that you can get 3/4 time major champs Dupreeh, Magisk and Zonic all in one package, you would go for it too. Individually they are better players than Shox and Kyojin no doubt, and only issue is communication. But Vitality CEO said they want to win a major, and can you win a major with Kyojin and Shox? Not unless they have tournament of their life, but the peak of this roster could be very high and thats what vitality want. They don't care about being top 3 every year, they want a major now and so in that sense I think the moves were justified.

I think it was quite easy with foresight too tbh. Even with lackluster individual play from shox and kyojin, the old roster of was consistently top 2 in world and clearly had great team spirit and greater than the sum of their parts. Just needed trust and support to go th distance. Messing with that, bringing in a new language was so obviously going to result in a worse team and literally everyone (aside from you?) Saw this coming. Damned shame.

Well, there is a big difference, since all of faze players have been used to communicating in English for years now. Magisk is the only one with international experience, and funny enough he is also the most consistently performing player.

I feel sad for Misutaaa .He is the one to blame everytime in the medias Eye But he has the hardest job in the team.He plays Ramp in Nuke He plays B in Inferno B in Mirage and A in Vertigo and he is always left alone to deal with that.Remember old roaster he was the B players in Dust 2 and Duppreh Magic got his place look at the results now.And i really hope Misutaaa leaves Vitality to really show his potencial.He cant show it in Vitality

It doesn't surprise me Zywoo is struggling to be as dominant. He is a player who's biggest strength is his in-game IQ. He requires a lot of good clear info to make his split second decisions (when to push/peek/rotate). We know his english is not the best so it makes sense his level will drop. The big question is how long will it take for vitality and zywoo to adapt. Things are looking pretty bad as it stands.

i think they're not gonna adapt at all , look at liquid , astralis and vitality , all of them exchanged players and all of them are literally falling apart , when the time comes all of these players will go back to their old team or will find new one , look at the other teams for example g2 or faze and look at the vitality , g2 and faze already showing great results with new rosters , vitality nowhere near it

I think Vitality need more time than G2 and Faze. Every player in Vitality is now changing language which is a big deal. They have all played for years in their own languages. Also they are mixing two very different cultures together. It was a much bigger risk than what G2 and Faze did. They definitely need at least 6 months to see how it's going, but I dont think people expected them to look this poor so early.

I don't think Vita are actually out... They can qualify with a Vitality 2-0 win vs Outsiders + Furia win over Faze. This would make it so Vitality, Faze, and Outsiders are all 2-3 overall and tied 1-1 in the H2H (Outsiders > Faze, Faze > Vitality, Vitality > Outsiders). Then it would come down to round difference. Obviously this means Vitality needs to win, and win big against Outsiders

Good game for FaZe, will be really tough making this playoffs as Vitality would have to beat VP, but still good game from them, atleast we are seeing some positives when it comes to firepower and teamplay compared to couple of first games. Vitality didn't stand a chance when it came to fragging, everyone on FaZe looked great and Vitality really doesn't seem like that much of a super team when it comes to individual, only ZywOo has been really stepping up tbh., Magisk had some decent games but inconsistent, it's really worrying for Vita, those legends need to step up because they're getting destroyed by young blood.

The prior vitality had such chemistry and team spirit, they all elevated each others play, and even with kyojin and shox performed greater than the sum of their parts. The idea to break up that lightning in a bottle was madness. You can see the spirit of apex and zywoo seems to have been crushed. Org should have known Cs is a team game and they just ripped up a winning team. If they had left the team as it was, vitality would be winning majors this year.
