SAW announce restructuring: stadodo, arki, vts to move to bench

The organization cited a feeling of stagnation as the main reason behind the radical decision.

SAW have announced sweeping changes to their CS:GO roster in the aftermath of a 3-2 defeat to FTW in the domestic championship, Master League Portugal IX Finals — the second loss to their local rivals in the last two months. The roster move will only come in place after ESL Challenger S41, where the Portuguese team has qualified for playoffs.

The team which has been together for over two years and came milliseconds away from qualifying for the PGL Major Antwerp is now breaking apart and restructuring, with AWPer Renato "⁠stadodo⁠" Gonçalves, rifler Omar "⁠arki⁠" Chakkor, and coach Rui "⁠vts⁠" Soares set to depart the lineup shortly.

After heartbreak at the RMR, SAW is breaking apart

"The reason for this restructuring is the feeling of stagnation, which, despite several attempts to improve in all aspects and by all elements, continued to remain present. For this reason, changes in the team have as their main purpose the renewal of objectives and strategies," the team wrote in the announcement, before thanking the outbound players and coach.

"Present in practically all competitions, stadodo and arki contributed to the great success of the entire team, having taken on important roles over the last few years and helping to carry the SAW emblem around the world."

"vts, who took charge in early 2022 after leaving AIm, was also responsible for the team's results during the first five months – which include the team's historic presence at PGL RMR Europe – and its contribution to roster development. It was significant."

The run at the RMR remains one of the best results SAW had in the last two years, albeit their best world ranking, No. 21, came at the start of 2021 after a second-place finish at DreamHack Open December in the prior year.

stadodo wasn't an awper. He was forced into the role due to the lack of an awper in the team l, much like broky. broky transitioned well and became a top tier awper though.

stadodo was always an awper on offset and he started awping on saw, but later on stopped, because he performed bad 90% of the games. Wdym he wasnt an awper?

When they tried story, he didnt have any experience and had to change every single role of the team(for example, stadodo was igl and stopped being awper). I believe that adding story as a replacement for stadodo would work perfectly

There's no good awpers in Iberia besides Sunpayus. Maybe Martinez could fit well, he hasn't much experience but has shown potential in Velox. Portugal literally has no good awpers, story from FTW being the most decent

I agree but most of the big organizations are impatient. I think it was mainly because losing to FTW hit them really hard (and they even had 1-0 advantage from the winner seed.).

They have been together for more than 2 years. Their results and way of playing hasn't been that impressive in the last months. No one was expecting they would do so good at the RMR but since then they started playing even worse than before. Losing the spot in ESL Conference and then against ftw was probably the last nail in the coffin. It's time to change. Hope the changes are for the better

that isnt exactly bad, saw players are lan players, so its hard for them to perform online, but you need to perform online to qualify for lans. And it all comes down to experience, Martinez in a good lan environment would get better
