OG continue surprise run at BLAST with ENCE upset

After taking down the world's No. 3 Natus Vincere in the opener, OG earned first place in Group B by adding another big scalp in the form of the No. 2 team.

OG have continued their surprising campaign at the BLAST Premier Spring Final, as despite playing with Abdul "degster" Gasanov as a stand-in and two new members, they have claimed the top spot in Group B and a place in the semi-finals after beating ENCE 2-0.

The Russian AWPer once again played a key role in OG's second upset at the tournament, with the previous coming at the expense of Natus Vincere, this time with a 1.39-rated performance across the two-map series against Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer's squad.

The difficult road doesn't end here, however, as the victory puts OG on a difficult side of the bracket featuring the No. 1 team in the world, FaZe, and a Natus Vincere squad gaining some more traction with the more experience they get with Viktor "sdy" Orudzhev. ENCE, meanwhile, are through to the quarter-finals and are set on a collision course with Vitality in a match scheduled for Friday at 20:00 .

degster continues to put up big numbers in his stand-in stint

Dust2 kicked off with the two teams battling for control early on, but soon OG were the ones to take over on the back of one of the recent additions, Maciej "F1KU" Miklas, who turned around an all-but-impossible situation with a 1v3 clutch on the B bombsite.

Throughout the first half stand-in degster was putting up the numbers, perhaps not being the flashiest outside of one triple but consistently finding key kills to help OG lock down the half 10-5. ENCE mounted a respectable comeback attempt, but some key rounds from the Russian AWPer as well as Adam "NEOFRAG" Zouhar put OG within touching distance, and a halfbuy win at 13-13 tipped the scales in their favor, with a degster 1v1 pushing it over the finish line.

Vertigo was up next and saw ENCE look to recover after getting off to a great start on the T side. After being 5-2 up, the Snappi-led squad had a difficult time shutting down OG's individuals firing on all cylinders, with Shahar "flameZ" Shushan and NEOFRAG scoring an ace each on opposite sides of the map and helping OG recover en route to an 8-7 half. After switching sides, Nemanja "nexa" Isaković's team picked up where they left off as they went unanswered for the first five rounds, and they rallied to a quick closing before ENCE could wake up.

You are right but since og could barely buy neo and f1ku, I doubt they actually have the money to buy degster.

Sadly but he seems to be a good fit for the team as he fits this more loose style of play OG has as they all have such a good understanding and love doing their own decisions. I don't think degster instantly will be picked up and he saw how well it went (even if they'd bomb out in the semis) in OG and he genuinly seemed to like it there but the thing is, if they'd kick mantuu now he'd be finished, mantuu's career would probably take a big hit. I mean perhaps Endpoint would pick him up but he's not the kind of player who gives confidence as he's proven to be inconsistent so doubt a any Top-15 would sign him. Complexity instead of the disappointing junior is like the most realistic option but that's not quite attractive team now is it with such a bad performance of lately.

tbh OG as the whole org I believe might have the money, but their csgo division haven't really done anything ever since they entered csgo. They prolly just weren't granted more money for this roster change due to the reasons I mentioned before. but degster has been insane for a long time now he might be really expensive to buy out, another thing would be his contract ending and getting him without a buyout...

reason is they never had faith in the CSGO department. but now we have a major semifinalist awper top 5 in the world who frags out of his mind, brings good vibes to the team and chemistry who wants to join an international roster. i like mantuu but if I'm OG I'm opening the checkbook for him

haha, true though.. although we as the viewers tend to get a whole different picture than what the "reality" is like. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. They do look fantastic, like you said - the team chemistry, the "slapster" meme, flamez and the rest getting along with degster very well, degster basically top fragging every map etc. But it could just be a "honeymoon" / stand-in placebo effect, as we've seen before - once you have a locked roster teams can prepare against you way more and counter strat/bully you more precisely. I really don't think degster will end up in OG (maybe, just maybe if they win the whole blast :D

Success sells. If they continue this run they may consider digging into the wider orgs pocket for a buy out. Tier 1 CS is really competitive at the moment with no real runaway top teams (all can beat eachother on their day) so now is a great time to push the spend button.

indeed, that's what I said at the end of #43. If they end up winning blast ( with degster leading the scoreboard / heavily contributing), I can imagine the OG' csgo division being interested in this absolute slaping unit of a player :D

I honestly think he's the only elite awper available, the pro scene now is filled with passive and inconsistent awpers, OG will miss out a golden opportunity if they don't sign him.

Considering how young and emotional those four are it’s really wise of nexa to let them do what they can do best and fill in the necessary gaps. I mean he must have courage to do that and skill as well.

Slapster looked like he had a lot of fun, actually they all did. He should go a bit gentle on that flameZ kid tho.. And just like that they are beating top teams. I wish they would stay longer with this roster, neofrag is confirmed beast (from that interview it was more like nexa did not even know who is he talking about) and f1ku had some great clutches, i was surprised. They are onto something, i am just not sure, if same will happen with mantuu.
