f0rest becomes free agent for first time in CS:GO

The Swedish legend aims to continue competing and is seeking a new opportunity.

Patrik "⁠f0rest⁠" Lindberg has entered free agency for the first time since the release of CS:GO, and one of the only times in his nearly 20-year long career. The 34-year-old had been a part of Dignitas before they announced their withdrawal from the game, and is now completely free to join a new roster.

Hailed as one of the greatest Counter-Strike players of all time, f0rest has plied his trade for just two teams in the last decade. He spent nearly eight years playing for Ninjas in Pyjamas from the launch of CS:GO until 2020, winning the ESL One Cologne 2014 Major as well as a plethora of international titles.

Shortly after the organization parted ways with Christopher "⁠GeT_RiGhT⁠" Alesund toward the end of 2019, f0rest chose to depart the roster and join up with his long-time teammate on Dignitas, where they were joined by two other former Ninjas in Pyjamas members in Richard "⁠Xizt⁠" Landström and Adam "⁠friberg⁠" Friberg.

However, the lineup struggled to find success in international tournaments and hovered around the top 20, and after a year GeT_RiGhT and Xizt both found themselves on the bench as the team made changes in hopes of improving their performance.

Results remained much the same though, and in May, Dignitas announced that they would attempt to rebuild their roster and transfer-listed their entire lineup, stating that their new team "may still include players currently part of Dignitas." After a month though, another announcement from the American organization revealed that it would entirely withdraw from CS:GO, allowing its entire roster to explore options elsewhere with many members announcing that they had been released.

Dignitas release team; step back from CS:GO

While awaiting the formal expiry of his contract, f0rest briefly stepped in for fnatic in the Pinnacle Cup Championship, and more recently took part in the first IEM Rio Major open qualifier alongside former NIP teammates GeT_RiGhT and friberg. That mix-team was eliminated by AVANGAR in the round of 256, narrowly falling in overtime.
