Dignitas release team; step back from CS:GO

The legacy organization have withdrawn from the game "for the foreseeable future."

Dignitas have announced that they will no longer field a roster in CS:GO "for the foreseeable future," the second time the organization will be without a roster in the title for an extended period after they skipped out on fielding a team in 2019.

The news comes just over a month after the organization transfer listed its entire lineup, stating at the time that it wished to build a "compelling roster that will compete for titles."

Dignitas make entire roster available for transfer
Dignitas have taken their leave from CS:GO for the foreseeable future

That new roster could have included players that were already a part of Dignitas, but the lineup iterations they explored have seemingly failed to bare fruit, with the organization now parting ways with the players who will be allowed to explore their options. As a result, all of the CS:GO staff have been released, including the players, coaching staff, team manager, and social media manager.

In their time together, the Dignitas roster hovered just outside of the top 20, consistently being a presence in tournaments but failing to secure any title wins short of qualifying for BLAST Premier Showdowns by winning Nordic Masters tournaments. Their few appearances in top tier events were also dismal, with the team missing out on qualifying for both PGL Major Antwerp and Major Stockholm following early exits in the RMR events.

The release of the team marks the first time that Counter-Strike legend Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg will be without a team in his professional career, which dates back to 2004. He most recently stepped in for fnatic in their Pinnacle Cup Championship campaign, where the team were eliminated in 5-6th.

Dignitas' roster was:

Sweden Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg
Sweden Adam "friberg" Friberg
Sweden Ludvig "HEAP" Alonso
Norway Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli
Sweden Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson

Bosnia and Herzegovina Faruk "pita" Pita (coach)

No, this is epic. Maybe Heap and Hallzerk get a chance to show what they are capable of in a team that actually wants to win. F0rest and Lekr0 can decide if they want to retire or keep playing.

win.gg/news/fifflaren-on-nip-past-bad-co.. In 2014, Faruk “pita” Pita arranged a charity tournament for people displaced by a series of storms that ravaged Serbia, Bosnia, and Croatia. The event featured players from a number of top European CSGO teams and garnered more than 22,000 euros worth of donations from fans. The money never actually went to charity, and the CSGO community unloaded on pita with many believing he had defrauded fans.

you should have included the next sentence: "Though Fifflaren acknowledged that the incident looked bad, he firmly defended Pita and suggested that the money was likely pocketed by one of NiP’s owners."

Console/Arcade games. Atlanta, California and the Midwest have some of the best Tekken players internationally. Also the best in NRS games like Mortal Kombat and Injustice. Obviously Cod/Halo other console shooters NA does well in as well. Its mostly just PC gaming where NA lacks.

Fighting games are some of the best selling game franchises of all time. Street Fighter, Tekken Mortal Kombat, all series that have existed since the 80s and 90s that are in the top selling series of all time. The same with COD and Halo. Youre just being completely obtuse for the sake of sounding stupid to think youre proving a point.

Plenty of people. EVO in 2019 had over 14,000 entries, nevermind the number of spectators. Redbull has players in every major game, and there are dozens of other orgs that are multi-genre like TL along with plenty that are FGC focused. As for online viewership majors will pull viewers into the +100k range, EVO peaks at a 250k and the same can be said about COD's league during large events. To write those esports off entirely is again, either ignorant or being obtuse. Also if youre going to act like you are some grand arbiter of what are high level esports you should at least spell it correctly. The big 2 are easily CS/MOBAs but behind that are plenty of tier 2 esports scenes like the FGC, SimRacing, and popular console games like COD, Halo and even FIFA these days.

Nice logic dignitas. Let's sign a team which will never achieve anything and now leave instead of giving the chance to hungry players who would at least try to achieve something and bring some prestige to your org.

They were inches from qualifying for the major tho. 1 round away from beating outsiders 2-0 and going up against Saw in the final match.

touché. My point still stands though, there is a fine line between a team being succesful at a major and being a disappointment. Eternal fire won in double OT against Dig and they were considered to have a rather succesful run. Its funny how 1 round seperates succes from failure at those tournaments

F0rest and friberg are the last two of the 2012 NiP that haven't retired, and I have a strong feeling that friberg is gonna retire. Still up in the air for f0rest I think, he's still decent but he's also 34 so we'll see...

Not gonna happen. JW and Flusha said no when people said "Sign Krimz" lol. Eyeballers is a team and a project that want to help talents get experience in T1-T3 not sign 30+ year olds.

"jw and flusha said no" - who tf even asks them? f0rest could and krimz can contribute alot more to youngsters than those 2 bots that washed up for over 2 years now.

Uhm. You know that Eyeballers is JW and Flusha project right? xD So...everyone asks them. "The Eyeballers trademark was acquired by JW and flusha, reviving the brand after 14 years of inactivity" JW is CEO and co-founder Flusha is co-founder

well i didnt, i thought they were just signed. anyways, its very selfish of them trying to keep themselves relevent when they have nothing to give. we saw how gorillaz and hellslayers turned out

Uhm. This is a project so young Swedish talent can play in some good tournaments and improve and get more experience. Basically a boost for the youngsters. So its not them keeping themselves "relevant", its them helping our youngsters and inexperienced players so they grow and hopefully can join a bigger team one day, like NIP or some international team. You can not compare Hellslayers/Gorillaz with Eyeballers. Its 2 different things. Hellslayers/Gorillaz was just JW and Flusha making a team so they could play with whoever wanted to play. Eyeballers is their project that helps our youngsters.

tbh it was all planned their project was dead anyway. it was only formed for 2 years to scam a little bit and throw some games and make a profit then disband. most players were washed-up legends. their time is over. just to remind you check how many games they won or lost 16-14 after comeback . proof of 322
