BLAST to host first 2023 Major - Report

The CS:GO Major will return to Europe after its next stop in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The first Major of 2023 will be organized by BLAST and take place in France, a report from Dexerto says and HLTV.org can confirm. The capital city of Paris is expected to be the host city of the event, which will take place from May 8-21.

This will come as great news to many in the community who have been calling for BLAST to take on a Major tournament after it has consistently produced some of the highest-quality broadcasts and shows on the CS:GO calendar.

The Danish-based tournament organizer has yet to organize a Major and had reportedly never pitched for one to Valve before the developers last launched a request for proposals for the 2023 Majors.

BLAST's approach to hosting a Major has apparently changed in recent times, with Managing Director Charlotte Kenny saying in an interview with Pley.gg that "BLAST is always interested in hosting a Major" and that it will organize one "when the time is right."

On Wednesday, BLAST's Chief Innovation Officer Nicolas Estrup teased in a Tweet that the BLAST Premier account retweeted, saying "2023 is going to be... wild" in an apparent reference to the imminent announcement of the Paris Major.
