peca replaces NiaK as G2's General Manager

G2 have undergone another non-player change after failing to qualify for the IEM Rio Major.

Following G2's recent failed attempt to reach the IEM Rio Major, the organization has changed its CS:GO team manager. Jérôme "⁠NiaK⁠" Sudries will no longer be G2's GM after six years with the organization, with Petar "⁠peca⁠" Marković now taking over the role.

The decision comes as just another part of G2's overhaul, with fellow Frenchman, coach Rémy "⁠XTQZZZ⁠" Quoniam, also leaving the team this week.

In his six years with the organization, NiaK served in different managerial positions and had a stint as coach in 2018. The Frenchman experienced the highs and lows of international contention with the team, from winning multiple LANs in 2017 to losing a Major final in 2021 and failing to qualify for a Major altogether in 2022. Before G2, NiaK managed notable French teams such as VeryGames and Titan.

The decision for NiaK to part ways with G2 comes off the back of their failure at the RMR, with him taking a part of the responsibility in an exit statement. "There are lessons to be learned at all levels from such a blow, and my view of the manager's role implies to take my fair part of responsibility here."

He also admitted that the departure of fellow Frenchmen XTQZZZ played a part in his exit too. "I am attached to work with people with whom I share a culture and ideology, with whom I align in just a few words. This is something I found with Rémy and that I know is a priceless asset in our young scene. So his departure has weighed in my decision."

For peca, this new opportunity at G2 serves as a continuation of his management career with time at CR4ZY, formerly known as Valiance, and his most recent stint at FunPlus Phoenix in 2021. Since then, the Serbian has served as G2's European Esports Manager, overseeing teams in multiple disciplines.

With G2's next event being the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2022, peca will have less than a month to implement any changes and find a new coach for the team looking to bounce back before the end of the year.
