kennyS departs G2 after almost six years with the organization

The French marksman leaves the team after spending 18 months on the inactive roster.

Kenny "⁠kennyS⁠" Schrub is no longer a part of G2, the organization announced on Twitter. The news comes among reports by 1pv.fr linking the AWPer with a move back to the French scene with Falcons.

The 27-year-old marksman was benched from G2 in early 2021 after a poor run of form and remained on the inactive roster for the next 18 months. kennyS made a few cameos with the main team after his benching, most notably at IEM Winter as previous in-game leader Nemanja "⁠nexa⁠" Isaković missed the event due to visa issues.

The departure puts an end to the French AWPer's almost six-year-long stint with G2 which began with the formation of the so-called "French superteam" in February of 2017 alongside Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon, Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire, and Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt.

kennyS helped G2 lift their second-ever trophy in CS:GO at DreamHack Open Tours 2017 before propelling the team's title runs at ESL Pro League Season 5 and DreamHack Masters Malmö. Alongside the three trophies, the 27-year-old was also part of several runner-up finishes with the organization as was the case at IEM Katowice 2020 and ESL Pro League Season 9.

"After representing the org for such a long time, it’s now over...Representing such a big organization and being the face of the CSGO team was such an honor and pride," read kennyS' statement. "G2 you are always in my heart...once again I’m out of words, I could speak about those (almost) 6 years for hours," it continued.

G2 currently field the following roster:

It depends, each player has a diferent contract with the org, some will recive more % some will recive less %, it's not the same amount for every player, some players probably will recive 40-50% and some will recive 20-30%

Yes, I said that, and that has nothing to do with what you claim I meant with it. His streaming cannot be viable for the org considering his contract warrants him a paycheck. I do not think you understand how making money via streaming works, maybe org gets a small % of his streaming money (but I doubt it) BUT he earns it all. Only thing org gets is merch people buy and that ain't much - not with his viewership compared to what he gets paid monthly by G2. Issue here is mostly for Kenny as he cannot be sponsored by anyone during that time, or at least not without G2 allowing him to - which is complicated. While KennyS is a legend - as a streamer for G2 he was a paycheck stealer with next to no income for the org. His role of quasimodo was better than anything he did in the past 4 years. A legend, but a washed up one

It's not for the sake of "keeping them" but rather those players got lengthy contracts that should be followed through

Should just have a clause to terminate the contract if there's a certain amount of inactivity, especially for players who have no resell/trading value. The way it is now, is just keeping the player a prisoner for no reason what so ever. 18 months is like an eternity in CS.

Hard to believe he's just 27 yo yet, I mean he would have a decent amount of years left if he could just have the motivation to properly come back. Won't count on it but Falcons/Heet I suppose it's a possibility as I he doesn't seem to have motivation required for T1 anymore. Not sure if they even want a player unless he commits fully though as there will always be young awpers taking his place if not. So maybe Falcons is where he's heading by the looks of it, perhaps Falcons also could swap XQTZZZ for coach as he can only coach french teams properly as language barrier is too much of a hurdle judging by G2 results.

Good. Players (as well as fans) have to understand that pro CS only gives you a slim time window where you stay at your prime. Past that peak, it's next to impossible to return to that previous form. Once your level goes down, it's not gonna go up again. Yes you might topfrag on faceit or against streamers but t1 is the pinnacle of aim/reactions, when you begin your transition to "washed up player" there's a stream of sick 16 y/o kids pushing the meta forward and hitting all shots.
