First look at Counter-Strike 2 maps

Legacy maps such as Overpass and Italy are among the ones to receive complete reworks in the new version of the game.

Valve announced a map and world overhaul in their Counter-Strike 2 reveal, breaking down three different tiers of map updates in the upcoming summer update. The "Touchstone" category includes maps that kept the majority of their structure and visual design from CS:GO, and includes legacy maps such as Dust2, Train, and Mirage. The second category includes maps that received significant changes to their textures, lighting, and reflections with the Source 2 engine. The videos showed Nuke and Ancient as examples of maps in this tier.

The last set includes maps that have received complete overhauls and were "fully rebuilt from the ground up" in order to utilize all the tools provided by the new graphics engine. Italy and Overpass were the two maps shown in the teasers as some of the oldest maps to receive the full makeover.

Dust2 is one of the "Touchstone" maps and changes to the B site appear minimal and graphical in nature

CT mid also remains unchanged from the CS:GO version

CT spawn received a lighting upgrade in Counter-Strike 2

Train T spawn also received a lighting update

Nuke is among the group of maps to gain more significant changes

The changes in the secret position seem limited to reflections

Improvements in lighting and reflections on Nuke are most notable on A site

T spawn was not changed much from its CS:GO couterpart

The water in Ancient T spawn now looks more realistic

Overpass received a complete visual overhaul

New shadows and lighting can be seen in the long area

Connector's lighting changes were accompanied by the addition of more detail on the shelves

The bathrooms position received a significant visual and lighting update

Italy is among the maps to be completely reworked

Really? In CSGO players have always upped their saturation to the maximum possible value and increased their brightness up to 120% and now you're complaining that it isn't dark anymore? Anyone who takes the game seriously will try to make it brighter for better visibility, so why do casual players have to be forced to play in darker spaces due to not knowing about these settings?

That's good to know. I'm currently using a laptop and playing cs go with it. Just wondering with the new update on source 2 specially the maps, I bet I will struggle with the FPS but hopefully not.

In the end you can always put graphics on low, you should definitely be able to play that way. I don’t think valve would make this game too Hardware hungry as they rely a lot on the casual players

Yeah because it’s a laptop. It’s not even meant for gaming and you’re getting 100fps. When I played 1.6 I was using a riva tnt 2 and getting 30-40fps

I'm getting 250+ fps running max settings 1080p. I wasn't talking about me. It's interesting that you think 100 fps is a great framerate. If you're not a casual, you're looking for 300+. Most people have to run on low res and garbage settings to get it.

It was just to say that CS isnt demanding at all and you dont need 4000$ PC to have competitive FPS. If you have 5 year old mid tier PC you are completely fine for CS but thats no where near good for other (new) games. I just dont get kids crying that CS is demanding lol. Im getting +300 at 1440p so im just fine.

Are there any indicies about hardware requirements? This looks great, but at what cost. Also, there should be something like "pro mode" or "pro settings" so the graphics are tuned down to minimum. Because this looks great on promo pictures, but reality is that anyone who wants to play multiplayer first person shooter will instantly set everything to lowest setting. That goes back to UT/Q3/CS back in the days whenwe were modifying game files like crazy (esp quakers were famous for that).
