Coach to step in for Rare Atom after Kaze falls ill at Asia RMR *

Delayed for over three hours due to technical issues, the match between Rare Atom and VERTEX looks set to resume with Xielin "⁠k4Mi⁠" Zhu substituting in.

Update 14:00 : Four hours after the match was scheduled to begin, it has still not resumed with the waiting screen on the official broadcast still showing the ominous 'technical issues' line.

Rare Atom's coach, k4Mi, will play out the rest of the second Asia RMR match against VERTEX as a replacement for Andrew "⁠kaze⁠" Khong, who began to feel sick following the start of the match and had to receive medical attention.

HLTV.org has learned the match is now set to resume after it has been delayed for over three hours due to technical issues, which had to do with the connection to the server and players suffering from loss.

Kaze was visibly unwell at the beginning of the Rare Atom-VERTEX match

Only four rounds have been played so far with VERTEX leading 3-1 on the Terrorist side of Ancient of the best-of-one match. The winner will go on to play The MongolZ and the loser will fall to the lower bracket of the double-elimination tournament to face Twisted Minds.

Rare Atom are well within their rights to utilize a mid-match substitution in this situation, as the official CS:GO Major rulebook states that substitutions in the middle of a match or in between maps in a series are allowed in case of medical emergencies.

As the Chinese squad haven't submitted a separate substitute, their coach acts as one. He can be swapped in once and Rare Atom can then revert back to their core roster once. After that, they will no longer be able to use substitutes in any situation.
