The Dane has made the jump over to North America.

Evil Geniuses have announced the signing of Ismail "⁠refrezh⁠" Ali from Sprout. The Dane departed the German organization's active roster in February after being replaced by Rasmus "⁠Zyphon⁠" Nordfoss, who returned from inactivity.

The deal comes as no surprise, as several rumors have connected the Dane to the Evil Geniuses project where he is now expected to replace Jadan "⁠HexT⁠" Postma on the active roster.

refrezh has found a new home in Evil Geniuses

refrezh joins the Evil Geniuses team that has been struggling for results, placing last at both BLAST Premier Spring Groups and ESL Pro League Season 17. They most recently attended the BLAST.tv Paris Major Americas RMR as a replacement team after failing to qualify, but didn't make the most out of their second chance and exited the tournament following a deciding loss to Paquetá.

In Sprout, refrezh fulfilled the IGL role for a period of time, but stepped down from the position after admitting it "has been tough for him", which eventually led to his removal. While his stint in Sprout was unspectacular, the Dane brings a wealth of tier-one experience to the team, as he was a member of HEROIC for over a year and famously won ESL Pro League Season 13.

Evil Geniuses will have plenty of time to integrate refrezh into the roster, considering their next confirmed outing is at IEM Dallas 2023, which starts on May 29.

With the new signing, Evil Geniuses are expected to have the following roster:

EG Black is not the main roster, why would refrezh play with event-less roster? Also, seem EG wanna give another chance to neaLaN (iem dallas), before probably benched him or move him to EG second roster. Then, Walco, Junior and Jeorge will get promoted to the main roster.

my point was EG black got tons of experience and moving him there with 2 more good impact players from main roster might make them good team again, but if they are thinking just changing one player from main roster will give them results i really doubt it mens.

well if the things happens as my point of view or as i said dont you think they will start giving EG.Black roster more chances like atleast on pinnacle cups likewise tournaments ? they can work on their chemistry there and prepare to take the main roster place after some time when they feel good with eachother. we already saw many team used those kind of pinnacle cups to prepare themselves, best example is current c9 line-up and who knows they might comeback to the tier where they used to be few years before :) but i understand your point mate, it's just i wanted to see if he have exp players and couple of impact players together how much can he worth for himself and for his team.

This is for sure one of the better decisions EG has made lately. Refrezh is solid asf in his support roles, has clutch factor. (1v5 vs liquid that literally made their roster implode) and he can probably help neaLan mid-round. Plus even when he left Heroic it wasn't like Heroic wasn't still a top 5 team in the world when he was on it too, Jabbi is just better. Also ngl, might get memed on for this but I would love to see Junior get promoted to the main roster over Wiz to see if he's feeling it in tier1 events again too. It'd be a solid roster over the stuff they've been doing lately.
