00NATION upset BIG to earn first win in Brazy Party

The Germans, who are fielding David "prosus" Hesse in the $333,000 online competition, are now one loss away from an early elimination.

00NATION have enjoyed a strong start to their Brazy Party campaign after upsetting BIG — who are playing with prosus in place of Josef "faveN" Baumann — 2-0 in their Group B opening matchup (Mirage 16-13, Inferno 16-10).

00NATION owe a large amount of their thanks to Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer; the 19-year-old spearheaded his team's recovery on Mirage, putting up a 26-15 1.48-rated performance to allow his side to eke out a slender 16-13 victory and go 1-0 up in the series heading into their Inferno pick.

Once there, the Brazilians completely ran away with things: They amassed a 10-5 lead on the T-side of their map pick before putting the series to bed a short time later after halting a late-map recovery from the Germans, advancing to the winners' match of Group B.

dumau went above and beyond the call of duty in his team's win over BIG

00NATION made the trip to Europe and kicked off their run through Brazy Party not long after a disastrous campaign through the BLAST.tv Paris Major Americas RMR in early April, where the squad went 0-2 to have their Major-qualifying dreams crushed.

The Brazilians have seemingly figured out what went wrong at the Major qualifier, however, and now move past BIG — a team on the cusp of making their way into the top 10 following a 5-6th place showing at IEM Rio — with few issues to be one win away from making the Brazy Party playoffs.

On the flip side, BIG, who were one of the tournament's favorites and usually come alive in online events, will rue being unable to show a better face in their opening matchup at Brazy Party, even when considering the addition of prosus as a tournament-wide stand-in.

The Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz-led side let a 12-6 lead on the Mirage opener slip to concede defeat (13-16) and looked disconnected from the server throughout the vast majority of Inferno (10-16). Regardless, the Germans will look to rebound in their do-or-die matchup versus paiN on Friday at 14:00 , with Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt's side having fallen to Into the Breach in their own opening match.

00NATION, meanwhile, turn their attention to their next matchup in the $333,000 online event. The Brazilians will lock horns with Into the Breach on Friday at 20:00 for a chance to earn the top seed in Group B and a spot in the Brazy Party playoffs.

BIG narrowly miss out on EPL playoffs, almost qualify for BLAST spring finals, miss out on the major after a 2-1 start, make the Rio stage, and now lose to 00 man, my heart hurts :( BIG are always so close to advancing, keep throwing out just enough hope, but never do :(

I'm sure BIG are upset by the result but upset is a brazy term to use since they weren't the favourites with a stand-in.

are you brazy dude? i think BIG were still the favorites here. they are just so horribly inconsistent. i think prosus was not the problem yesterday

His individual performance was fine but that doesn't mean swapping a player out doesn't have a huge impact on how the team plays. In regards to BIG being inconsistent, I agree, further reason most people wouldn't consider them favourites when they also have the disadvantage of a stand-in.

i can largely agree with your comment BUT i still think BIG were the slight favorites based on their rank & "attendance of bigger events" if that makes sense. i would never bet money on my boys though
