GODSENT announce new lineup featuring Golden's return as a player

Maikil "⁠Golden⁠" Selim returns to the server more than a year after his last match as a player.

Continuing with the return to their roots, GODSENT have constructed an all-Swedish lineup for the upcoming season. The team retained the services of Nicolas "⁠Plopski⁠" Gonzalez Zamora and Erik "⁠ztr⁠" Gustafsson, moved Golden from coach to player, and brought in Johan "⁠hype⁠" Engblom and Jonatan "⁠bobeksde⁠" Persson. Kevin "⁠Kevve⁠" Bohlin also joins as coach.

GODSENT returned to CS:GO at the start of the year after a brief hiatus following the departure of their Brazilian lineup mid-way through 2022. After several years of European and Brazilian players featuring for the organization, they opted to sign a Swedish roster upon their reentry into the scene.

The initial iteration of GODSENT’s Swedish lineup featured the likes of Alfred "⁠RuStY⁠" Karlsson, Joel "⁠joel⁠" Holmlund and William "⁠draken⁠" Sundin, and results were solid if unspectacular. The team achieved decent placings in online tournaments, like various CCT Online Series events, and took a notable top-four at BetBoom Playlist Urbanistic. They did, however, fail to qualify for any LAN events during this time.

The carry of the previous roster was 18-year-old joel, who posted a 1.11 rating over 119 maps in 2023, but he was surprisingly benched late in May. draken and RuStY soon followed, leaving the team needing a significant rebuild in the off-season.

hype joins having spent the last year with PROSPECTS, where he racked up an impressive 1.14 rating and won a number of lower-tier online events. bobeksde also arrives from PROSPECTS, sporting a more modest 1.03 rating from his time there.

The final piece of the puzzle is Golden, who returns to the server having transitioned to a coaching role when he joined GODSENT at the start of the year.

I mean I am kinda confused as well but at the same time the market is kinda empty for swedish talents. Of course they could have signed a half decent swedish talent but at the same time what is the point if he's just gonna be benched again in 6 months. My thinking is that they are now trying out Golden and seeing if he's up to it, if he isn't then he can just go back to coaching and hopefully bringing in a proper swedish talent during CS2.

Something obviously happened. The roumors are that he match fixed but we are not sure. GODSENT are coming out with what happened in the coming weeks. He had controversys before GODSENT as well with scamming and stuff. Right now he is desperately streaming with gambling sponsors after a known gambling addiction, sad stuff tbh

That's the thing though, there are PLENTY of Swedish players they could choose from. The "No talents" argument can only work so long.. Sure there might not be a monesy or something in Sweden but there are still plenty of players that could be shaped into a great player with the right management.

Have to agree. I was hoping that the previous iteration of Godsent would be the team that brought the Swedish scene back to t1. Also hade some hopes for eyeballers. But it seems like we wont get any t1 teams soon. And im sorry, but i cant root for NiP when they've gone international, they where supposed to be the t1 team where the best swedish players had a spot. I wonder why we have two really good danish teams but not a single good Swedish.

Plenty of igl’s Nicoodaz and darling are solid awpers. Altekz, mistr, kristou, zyphon are all great riflers. Xyp and Dupreeh have good experience. That is certainly enough players to make another solid team
