Hussar Cup new dates, invites announced

Two months after the Polish event was postponed due to a clash with ESL Pro League, it has been moved to sit on top of two other high-profile tournaments.

GamerLegion are now the highest-ranked team invited to play at the Hussar Cup

The organizers of the Hussar Cup have announced the tournament's new dates, location, and invited teams. The event has been moved from Chorzów to Poznań, Poland, and is now set to take place on November 8-12.

Originally announced to boast $1 million in prizemoney, the tournament's offering has also been reduced to $600,000.

9INE, who had already been announced as one of the first two direct invites, will be joined by Apeks, GamerLegion, Monte, MIBR, BIG, and two teams coming from a European closed qualifier.

ENCE previously accepted an invitation as well but can no longer attend as a result of the Hussar Cup's new dates now clashing with the CS:GO Asia Championships, where the team around Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer is set to play.

The irony in that is that the event was moved from the original dates (August 30-September 3) in the first place due to the previously invited teams' complaints of a scheduling clash between the Hussar Cup and the first ESL Pro League Season 18 group.

Hussar Cup postpone open qualifier; look into rescheduling event

"We received an ultimatum from the invited teams regarding their concerns about financial losses due to overlapping schedules and shared viewership of the Hussar Cup with other esports competition. Putting the quality of the games first, we take this feedback very seriously," a statement from the July 20 announcement read.

Following the change, the event's new dates now clash with the $500,000 CS:GO Asia Championships, which features five top-ten teams, as well as the $150,000 FiReLEAGUE Global Finals tournament that boasts several other high-profile names like Virtus.pro, fnatic, and Imperial.

If they really sold tickets and haven‘t paid the money back absolutely. That was my guess too. How can you announce a tournament in a version of a game that does not exist

-400k in prize pool and is played at the same time as a bigger tournament. What are they doing? Also NIP should have gone to this instead of the China tournament, less travel and more prize money.

It's gonna get rescheduled two more times, prizepool halving both times, event being moved online at the second reschedule before ultimately being axed/quietly swept under the rug by mid 2024
