Community bids farewell to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
CS2 will usher in a new era of Counter-Strike, but before that many are saying farewell to CS:GO after 11 years of service.

Valve finally released Counter-Strike 2 on Wednesday, September 27, over six months after the developers announced the Limited Test beta in March.

The official release of the shooter, which is now the fifth installment in the Counter-Strike franchise, came with several changes compared to the Limited Test beta. You can read all of the changes here:

However, while Counter-Strike 2's Wednesday release was met with much expectation, it was also the time for a period of reflection for many.
Players have invested thousands of hours in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive — over 23,000 if you're Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev —, so while it's time to welcome Counter-Strike 2 and look forward to the future, there has also been an outpouring of farewells for a game that will forever remain a large part of many lives.

The Counter-Strike team even joined in via their Twitter account, thanking players who tested the game prior to its launch and Alex "Machine" Richardson, who was the narrator in Counter-Strike 2's release video, before expressing their excitement for Counter-Strike's "next chapter."
